Brake Light

Hey everybody,
My father drives my SVX sometime, Mostly on weekends. We both have habbit of putting Parking Brakes on. He drove my SVX yesterday. When I drove it this morning, I took off the parking brakes, but the light was still on and I heard some kind of very little squeaking noise in back tires. When I drove it this afternoon, the light was gone. I tried turning off car this morning, but light won't go away. Whenever SVX is with me, the light never comes on, but when my father drives it, it comes on. This has happened to me second time. What might be the reason??

The brake could be seizing in one of the drums, which would explain the squeaking - but not the light.

I suspect something sticking at the handle end of the set-up, but I don't know enough about the internals to make a diagnosis.

Is the underside of your car very rusty? I usually see these problems on cars which have seen many salty winters.

You might try the tech forums instead of our 'babble' forum.

Check your brake flud float, and the sensor in it to make sure it's clean and not stuck.

Top up the brake fluid to the full mark and see if it helps. If you have not flushed out your brake system in the past 2 years or 30k miles, I'd recommend that as well.

I am not at the car so I can not tell you which brake light -- the one that says brake or ((!))

one of them means that your brake light (bulb) at the back is out. check them.

Yes, I do hear a squaking noise in the back right tire sometimes. I usually hear it when Brake light is on and some other times also.
Lwin, it's not the light which says brake, it's the one parking brake light which is ((!)).
what should I do ??

Significant Technical Input
Just take it to Midas, Meineke, etc. for a free brake inspection - that would be better than guessing over the 'net...
