As we approach 3000 members

I would like to know how many active members & lurkers we actually have.

Could we use this thread as a CHECK IN point.

LURKERS!!! THIS MEANS YOU!!!

Ok, so you never wanted to post. Maybe you never had anything to say... Maybe there was never an excuse to chime in on or in another thread...

This is your chance... please Say hi! Tell us how long you've been looking

Regulars CHECK IN TOO!!!

No control on this... but maybe if we stuck to one post each it would help too....

Thanks!

(perhaps this could be a Sticky as we approach the 3000 member mark)????

(Edit: I noticed that some have stated that they don't want the list purged. That is not why I wanted to do this. I was hoping that we could just get an idea of how many of the close to 3000 are still with us... I know that many wax and wane ... and I don't desire to lose any more posts than have already been lost.)

Re: Every member please check in here!

Hey guys and gals, I'm Ben from Indianapolis. I'm a parts guy at a local Subie dealership and love all things boxer. The SVX has had a place in my heart since my youth and I've decided one would make a fine daily driving sidekick to my 03 WRX wagon(mafia) The fun part is gonna be not going crazy and trying some STi drivetrain swap once I find "the one" I'm 29, an avid autocrosser, head of the rallycross development for the indy region of the scca, and dj when I'm not racing or slanging parts. I have some sensors and other engine parts you guys may be interested in as well but I'll save that for the classifieds I guess I'll give ya a car "fact sheet"

current ride
2003 WRB WRX wagon
gold BBS/Potenza 070s for summa/17"Silver ASA 6 spoke/Blizzaks for winta
Whiteline adjustable rear sway with noltec endlinks
07 STi rear struts
KYB GR2 front struts
SPT STi pink springs
SPT Group N front Strut mounts
HKS 3 inch catless downpipe
K&N air filter

plans include legacy gt tgvs/fuel rails, 07 sti vf43/topmount/injectors/walbro, and tune

Hello Ben, you are very welcome on the forum.

Hmmmm. By the look of that modifications list we might have to rename you Brickyard Ben.

Tell us more about your SVX man, that's all we are interested in round here.

Re: Every member please check in here!

As you are into Subarus, you will know the engineering behind them is pretty good.

Before you buy one acquaint yourself with the check-list in the How To section, just so you know the weak points. Oh, and the golden rule with the SVX is not to settle for or fall in love with the first car you see. If the owner profile is bad, then lots of servicing will be missed, and you could end up pumping dollars into it.

Buy the best you can afford. Get a good car, it will make you

Joe

Hi, I'm Jacob, I just bought a 92 SVX. Silver and black in southern CA (Ventura). In wonderful condition and mileage not too shabby. Excited to try out visual modding of my new toy.

Re: Every member please check in here!

Hi All, new SVX owner here. New to Subarus as well.

My account finally got activated so its time to introduce myself and my new project car.

I ended up an SVX owner simply by chance. I had been looking for a project car for dirt cheap to restore and enjoy and maybe someday improve. I havent had a car I could get deeply interested in since my long gone first car, a Nissan 240sx. I was getting the bug to get my hands dirty with something that would be fun once i got it running. I had a few different makes/models in mind as I knew looking for a specific car would take ages.

Like many I had never heard of this strange and wonderful car, and while searching through craigslist and other classifieds for a project car, I found a posting from someone up in Yakima, WA. He listed a handful of cars in the ad all for $500 obo each, among them an XT6 and SVX.

At $500 and a Subaru model I hadn't heard of, my interest was piqued. So I looked up SVX and discovered a very interesting car with a very interesting history. I decided I needed to go have a look at this thing in person.

So I call the guy and agree to have a look at it. He said the engine ran but the transmission was bad and needed to be replaced, and the car was in rough shape looks wise. Drove up on a thursday after work and found pretty much exactly what he described. surrounding his house was basically a car graveyard. Lots of cars in bad shape that he was either slowly fixing back up or using for parts. Front and center was a bordeaux 94 LSi. After seeing how rough the paint was, the various dents, years of debri collected and deeply embedded everywhere, and quite the dirty engine bay, I knew it was going to be a heck of a project and offered him $350. He accepted and I returned that saturday with a Uhaul trailer to claim my prize.

And there it is on its way home with me. (yeah i know, wheel is backwards)

My plan is to make this thing look and run good again. I've learned a lot about the SVX since this purchase (back in July) and am glad to be returning another one to the roads.

I have acquired a replacement 4.44 4eat and matching rear diff. to get it rolling again, and have been fixing various other odds and ends and cleaning it up while getting ready to do the transplant.

So yeah... looking forward to driving this thing!

Thumbs up Re: Every member please check in here!

Hi Tony

You are very welcome on here man.

Personally I'm not usually a fan of the wedge shape of the XT, but that car of yours looks like it is in really good condition.

Respect, man, that is nice.

Joe

Re: Every member please check in here!

Hi everyone! Fairly new here, just purchased a beautiful 96 LSi in Laguana Blue. I am the second owner, and with 74,000 miles, it was in good enough condition to sell at a Subaru dealer. Interior is mint, no rips in leather, cracks or scuffs whatsoever. Outside, the lights and grille need to be reconditioned as the are a little yellow, but not bad. The paint was in good condition for being 13 years old, the worst being the rear spoiler. It was thin in a few spots, and had the normal dings in the hood from rock chips. I saw another member that had good success at Maaco, and decided to get the spoiler painted. $275 to remove, paint, and reinstall. $1050 to paint the whole car with Dupont, 2 stage, their best job, including repainting all the wipers (surface rust) and sanding down the hood to bare metal to fix the dings. I talked him down to $900. It looks AWESOME! The SVX decals on the sides shattered upon removal, so I need to pick up a set of those. It could use a set of speakers, I hear a little valve tapping too. No transmission or bearing issues at this time. Still in 3 month bumper to bumper, so back it goes to check the engine noise and to have the front rotors cut, A GREAT RIDE!! My wife and I are hardcore Subaru people, we have an 06 Forester X Premium and 06 Outback L.L Bean. I attached a few photos, let me know what you think! You can see the other cars in the background. Thanks, Joel
