Rear Diff Fluid Recomendations
A little help here, please. My owner's manual calls for GL-5 gear oil in the rear diff. I can see that for the front since it is open. I would have thought the rear would use a limited slip grade oil. What do you guys use and why?
Thanks, Keith |

Re: Rear Diff Fluid Recomendations
I use Amsoil or Mobil 1 80/90 full synthetic and have had wonderful results. Synthetic is the way to go all around, especially in the tranny. I use it in all my subarus, legacys, svxs. Dont think about it, just take my advice, you wont regret it.

Re: Rear Diff Fluid Recomendations
For that style rear diff we've been happy with Motul gear 300. We have heard really good things about the super secret subaru rear diff oil, but haven't tried it ourselves yet.

If you know anyone looking for a complete rear end, I have one from my parts car that had 45k miles on it.

Re: Rear Diff Fluid Recomendations
Synthetic gear lub, engine oil, transmission fluid, bearing grease and in everything, and nothing else!

Re: Rear Diff Fluid Recomendations
Nothing but factory-spec EconoSludge in both of mine. Go with what the owner's manual recommends.
