what about US?

are there alot of golfs around there in US?
In Austria nearly everyone at age 18-22 is ricing his golf.
I hate them all --> the golfs and the people who do that.
I never thought that you can do 700 HP with a golf.

I don't know if I'm correct, but, didn't Ford market a Golf in Europe? Is this the one you're talking about? We did not get the Ford Golf (unless it was the same as an Escort? ). We have/had the VW Golf here in the US. Not very "riceable" in my opinion.

Talking oh man!

I want to print this entire thread and show it to my students. I think we will hammer out the definition of RICE in class today. Maybe then they will get the idea about the so called "Cold air intakes that are really Hot air intakes"

"Teach,"
To think that anything discussed in these forums would be used to mold young minds, is, frankly, quite scary.

A question for Marty - I thought Europe, or at least Germany, heaped gobs of taxes upon those who bought the larger displacement engines within any car line. I also thought any alteration or tampering with anything under the hood was punishable by death. Have things changed in the last 20-30 years, or have the teenagers become so yuppy-ized that money is no longer the object?

Thanks, Ron.

yeah, you are right ron!
they have to pay that taxes, but some of them risk the displacement without paying taxes (they hope not to have a control --> crazy in my thoughts)
some others life for their cars --> they spend all their earnings into their cars --> just to have a "cooler" lookin car than the neighbour.
I don't mind about that kind of people.
If they want to do that stuff they should do it.
I hope I answered your question Ron.

have a nice weekend

p.s. maybe I find some pics of riced austrian VW GOLFS

No need to apologize, Marty. I'm the one who's confused. I can't keep all of the "re-badging" straight in my head. Thank you for the clarification.

Marty-

My family went skiing/snowboarding in austria a few years back.. they stayed in Kitzbuel (spelling) for a week and had a great time....... without me... I had to stay home because I couldn't afford to be out of school. However, next time they go, they're taking me. I'll have my car shipped over and you and I can cruise around in style
