IC. the mayority are in favor of modifying 'sports' cars which it wouldnt be considered 'ricing' but if there is a technology to turn a 'regular - not sports car' into a real sports car then that is ricing?? then i would suggest you look behond the vehicles you can find in the US marquet regardless of were they come from. example..... Peugeot? different versions of its rally car how ever it is the same car in nature but supped up oh, did i mentioned it was factory also?

Look at these cars....

Ford Escort Cosworth
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Series
Subaru WRX Sti Series

Are those sports cars? or rice cars from the factory? Because those cars put out between 240-300 hp right from the factory and can burn most of the so-called sports cars, like the 3000GT, the SVX, and the 300ZX. Heck... the 3000GT and SVX aren't even real all-out sports cars... they're "Grand Touring" cars, a fancy name for a mix of sport and luxury... Meant to be nice highway cruisers, with decent power, and a comfy ride. They were never meant to compete directly with real sports cars, because they're in a category of their own, and have more creature comforts, while sacrificing raw power. But I resent the fact that people still look down on an Integra that looks nice AND goes fast and call it rice. I have respect for a 400-hp Eclipse that doesn't have the typical symptoms of rice: Fake stickers, huge banners, fake turbo timers, plastic intercoolers, etc.... Anybody that can make a car like that faster than a Z-28 should be proud of themselves. Rice, to me, is a car that tries to look fast without doing the real performance mods... There's a difference between making your car look NICE, and making your car RICE... body kit: nice... plastic intercooler: rice... carbon fiber hood, painted or otherwise: nice... fake electric blow-off valve... rice.

Let me make one comment and put any speculation to rest. The SVX is not, will not, has never been a "SPORTS" car. It is, has been and always will be considered a "Luxury/Sport Coupe." It, to me, is a true Half and Half.

So, do not classify the SVX as a "Sports" car. Not only will you be wrong, you might cause the Insurance industry to change the classification and jack up my insurance rates.

Take a tip from nature. Form follows function. If it dosen't have a function, it's not there. The rest is bulls##t. IMHO.

Interesting. Kentucky classifies it as a 6 cylinder coupe. I pay as much for insurance for my SVX as I paid for my 89 Suzuki Sidekick and, I had "Liability only" on my Sidekick. I have full coverage on my SVX.

rice cars opinion

the coment as being eclipse is rice depends on the model a AWD turbo is not a rice car in any means unless u make it into one u can make any car and i mean any car into rice crap,, my opinion if a car is sold with out a tach has hub caps and exhaust tip as your pinky its not fast and never meant to be so why make it, as for eclipse talon aka "dsm" they are way above the class of honda, and is one of the great super cars of our time along with supras//300zxs//rx7s etc etc, yes the svx is more money then dsm but the speed and looks are there for the ecllipse also i use to own a 99 gst and bye any mean i never got beat bye a svx even completly stock 14.9 stock 1/4 to my svx now 15.3 stock but im getting there, here in florida every one in ther emother has a civic, or eclipse or toyota,, but not many of them are AWD turbo ether,, => with huge huge power potental , as mine was 380 hp @ 23 psi on 110 octane

well anything that is put somewhere that has no function or reason is pointless. more like a false advertisement. guys should know that subject better than anyone else. a girl can flirt to the point where the guy would believe that he could expect something and then she can turn around and smack him in the face.

the same applies with cars. a flashing car..no matter the brand can humm down the road with it's weedwacker exhaust, catching everyone's eye with the flamboyant colors of sparkly stickers. the messmorizing sound of the rear-end liscence plate rattling to the sound of the bass. but at the same time, walking up to it and actually taking a look under the hood to be disapointed by a stock 4. False advertisement -not nessesarilly a ricer, just a disappointment.

Kelli (disappointed many times)

Ps but at the same time, it is always nice to pull up along side of one and show him up.

I prefer the term "Frankencars" (with credit to Jaylinb and her friend).

Thumbs up

Im with you Red 92 SVX...

The rest of you that look down on cars that have great 'sports' potential are just mean mean mean!
Lets 'recall' that some companies have a car model that ranges to simplistic plastic hubs and manual windows to a super supped up rally ready car.. keep in mind this is the same car just different parts in it.

Mods that bring Performance & functionality = Nice
Mods that DO NOT bring performance nor functionality = Rice

pretty clear to me.

A note on the Eclipses... the previous generations (not the current 3000GT wannabe crap that Mitsu is selling) had the GS-T and the GSX... GSX was AWD turbo, GS-T was FWD turbo... In stock trim, the GSX is faster... But once modded well, the GS-T is actually faster, because of it's lighter weight w/o the AWD.

As for the 3000GT, the VR-4 is fast.. but it's also 3900 lbs... 400 lbs for the AWD alone... nice car, and it can be made fast... but it take a lot of power to beat the lighter cars.

And I have a lot of respect for the Hondas... Those RSXs are deceivingly fast, and there's 400 hp turbo Integras out there... Incredible cars...

The one that really impresses me... the Hyundai Tiburon featured in SCC one time.... thing had two engines... turboed... and two automatic transmissions... NOS... real full 4 wheel drive, putting out around 600 hp to the wheels... 1320 times in the 10s.... on stock tires... and it's not overly flashy, either...

Look at this one!

Two great Sites about fast and rare cars!

http://www.burago.com

http://www.supercars.net

I like the first one, cause there are VW-Golfs with 700 - 800 HP

GREAT
