First time at the drag strip, can some one analise my slips?
Last night i headed down to pacific raceways, for the open draging, i managed to get 4 runs in. From 15.924, to 15.504. My car is a 92 SVX, 5spd, 4.11 with a spec stage 3 clutch, header back exhaust, and a ecutune stage 1 chip. I pulled the spare out, and that was about all for weight reduction. My clutch was slipping throught 1st, and some of seconed for all runs. I would usally drop the clutch at 3.5-5K the lower drop netted my faster 60 foot times probley becasue of less clutch slip. I thought my last 60 foot was OK, but i would of liked to get down to 2 flat. The only thing that concerned me was my MPH at quarter seemened alittle low, i thought i was going to be in the 92, 93 range. It may of been becasue i had to either shift into 4th, or ride 3rd out to above 7k. The temp out side was in the low 60s so it was pretty good draging. Next time i go iam going to brind some ice to pack on the intake manifold to what times i can net. I was hoping for a high 14 sec pass, but it seems like iam pretty far away from that now.

Not bad at all... With the temps that low in a 4.11 5mt you should be on the boarderline of 14's though. I think if you shift shorter than 7k rpm you may be better off. There is a lot of scratch over the scanners about the MAF maxing out of people at high rpms. This tells me that the lower rpm you shift at the better. I tend to shift just under 6k for my best times. A good launch is key also. My best 60' time was 2.02. Work on good shifts and good launches and you will be in the 14's easy.

Nice times. The temps were pretty favorable and I agree with Tomssvx about being able to squeeze into the upper 14's. How badly is your clutch slipping in 1st & 2nd?

Well, I used to do be able to do small burn out, but now i drop it, and no burn out, the clutch complety grabs by 3rd gear. It still grabs farley hard it just dosent complety hold it any more, when i launch. I was usally shifting at around 6200 RPMs, but one run i let it go all the way out to about 7100, so I wouldent have to shift into 4th, and the I ran a 15.7??, with a 2.4?? 60 foot, at 88.???MPH
Can you think of any easy, and cheap mods nthat i can do by friday. I was thinking of bringing some ICE to pack onto the intake manifold. Last edited by svxsubaru1; 08-11-2005 at 01:14 PM. |

nothing is comming to mind. You could pull the intake resonator and pop the cornerlight out while racing. Thats about it

pull out the back seat and the passenger's seat - probably good for at least a .1 of a second....
