Unhappy The Time Has Come

Well kids, it looks like I may be parting with my '92 pearlie for financial reasons. I know I ought to be really broken up about it, but ... I'm not. I see myself picking up another SVX a couple years down the road, so with that in mind, I reckon I'll be okay about it. Yes, a low mileage '96 or '97 will be perfect when the time is right.

In any event, here is the rundown on her:

148,005 miles, garage kept and used on weekends and evenings for the past three years. Always detailed using Zymöl Carbon on the roof, trunk and wing, and Japon on the rest of the body (including the wheels, which are from a '95) and Zymöl on the interior. Mods include: JDM hood badge, Konis at all four corners, K&N filter, Optima Redtop battery, battery/ground wiring upgrade, 35% tint all around, Pioneer DEH-P8000R over MDS-P7000 (AM/FM/CD/MD), PPi carbon fiber 6.5" mids w/Titanium tweeters, Pioneer 6 x 9's in the rear, slotted cad-plated front rotors.

In the past year, have replaced the front rotors & pads, alernator, mass airflow, plugs w/ Bosch Platinum +2's, passenger-side door lock actuator, antenna, tires with Yokohama AVS-dB's, A/C compressor (retrofitted with r134). Car has also had water pump, steering rack, p/s pump and tranny replaced under warranty in the last three years.

Now for what's wrong with her: Needs a new radiator (cracked across the top; runs fine in cold weather w/heat on), and CE light comes on occasionally. Front brake pads do not go silently into the night ... or day, for that matter! But the car brakes very well. There are the normal door dings and a rust spot on the front right wheel well.

Well, that is about all I can think of for now. Many of you have seen this car at Reading, Indiana, Vermont, Liberty Island, Haines Point and a number of other meets and can attest to it being in half-decent condition. But for those who haven't seen her, there are some picts in my locker. Unfortunately, I've never taken engine or interior picts of her, but I could arrange to take them if need be, so just let me know.

I will more than likely be at Reading this year, weather the car is sold by then or not. If I am without SVX for the meet I will, of course, park the other ride off in a corner somewhere, as there is nothing quite like and undisturbed row of SVX's.

Any questions about the condition of the car can be posted here or, for detailed answers, PM me and I will try to respond soon as I can. L8TR!!

Ohhh no, the tags stay! The A8 is doing okay. Will probably hang on to it for another year or so.

No, not a joke. It took a lot to finally write that post. But, as I said, I can truly see a '96 or '97 taking up residence in the future, so that makes it a wee bit easier.

No worries Larry. Barring any unforseen happenings, I'll be at Reading.

Is this the same young lady you brought to Reading last year? If so, she would fit in the SVX well and fit into the SVX Crowd well.

I'll never forget her parting words: "My idea of manual labor is 'man, you WILL labor.'"

Gee.....guess I'm missing something....last time I checked "Parting Out" meant ...dismantling and selling individual parts.
