chances are he heard MX6 instead of 626 or -- MX6 is built of off 626 (2 door version) so... he claims that it's a sports coupe. Perhaps. I had my eyes on MX6 at one time.... but I am glad I choose SVX.

Thank goodness, since I'll have the dreaded "unmarried driver under 25" on my policy soon.
It is amazing. I almost ran out the door like a giggling idiot when the lady in Hawaii gave me the quote and actually allowed me to sign the paperwork locking it in!! Conversly, you could have heard the wind leaving my sails when the Progressive folks here in MD told me they'd need $728.00 down and $303.00/month for full coverage when I first moved back here; all this with no change whatsoever in my driving record, which had one minor accident (which took place at an SVX meet) and no tickets.

If I were paying your rates, I wouldn't know what to do with myself.

I'm 21 with 2 speeding tickets. No accidents though. I get my SVX for $801 including everything, and roadside assistance. Mind you they are giving me a special deal because I still have my Sunfire insured with them. They must assume I can't drive both cars at the same time. Hmm...that is something that might be interesting.

Maybe I could staddle my sportbike in the middle....hmm this is sounding dangerous already.

Insurance

I live out in the rural area of Maryland and my premiums are $628.00 annually with State Farm. I carry 250,000/500,000/150,000 with 100 deductible comprehensive and 250 deductible collision.

I have had no tickets in over 18 years and no accidents in 15 years. I occasionally try for quotes with companies like Progressive, Erie Insurance Group. They still can't match State Farm. My low rate also reflects discounts for multi-vehicle/ safe driver-accident free/ over 55 and homeowners policy.

Are the prices for the poll for 6 months or a year of insurance? Is there an option for >$4000/6 months? *sigh*

Acck sounds like Canadian insurance

I'm from Alberta. My insurance was over $4300 a year for my Sunfire. If I had the GT it would have been $5900 a year. That was with no tickets or accidents either! I used to drive my old motorcycle around mostly simply because of the cost. It was $2100 a year just for liability.

Damn being young sucks for insurance.

I live in rural Carroll County Maryland. I pay a total of $1800 per year for full coverage on the 92 SVX, a 95 Impreza, a 93 Jeep Wrangler, and a 53 Chevy pickup, and liability on a 92 Suzuki GS500E. The SVX by itself is about $500 per year.

The Impreza is set up as my daily driver, which drops the rates on the other vehicles by nearly enough to pay for the Impreza insurance. Beaters rule.

Nope. They asked several times and the good folks at Progressive said they classified the 626 as a sporty car. The finance guy was red-faced and slamming his fists on the table He knew that, at $400/mo., the deal on that car was shot, so they ended up selling my brother a cheaper car; that's what he was most pissed about.

Incidentally, I had a friend who worked at the same dealership (she's still there, but no longer my friend) and I also took an MX-6 for a test drive there before getting the SVX I currently own. It was a nice car, but I'm also glad that I got another SVX.

Move to Hawaii. Your insurance costs will drop like a safe out of an airplane I think one of the reasons it was so low out there is because there are only about 10-20 SVX's throughout Hawaii; Ferraris have a much greater chance of being stolen there than SVX's. Regardless, four grand every six months is a dear sum to pay.

Think we should invite some of these kids from out of town to take a spin through Rock Creek? The only downside is, of course, as soon as the Park Police see a steady stream of SVX's winding its way through the park, that'll be all she wrote. But yeah though, another meet would be a good idea.

Actually, I dropped a heavy bit of my coverage after my insurance shot up. Instead of paying $4300 every 6 months, I now pay $4000 every year, and with my current liability coverage/etc., if I ever hit a nice car, such as a Mercedes, I would end up out on the street, with nothing except the shirt off my back... The things I do to keep the SVX.... *groan*

Insurance rates

Here in Massachusetts I'm paying $1346 for a '92, that is for full coverage though. The rates vary here by where you live and I am out in the country so someone in Boston would be paying much more.

Where in the heck are you getting your insurance Red? I have a terrible record, totalled cars, 3 tickets, and my insurance is $124 a month and we live in the same general vicinity. You need to work at getting a different premium. I have full coverage with a $500 deductible on both.
