Angry Stupid Philly Drivers!!

So I am on my way to work today and I am driving down a 2 lane ONE WAY street. As I approach an intersection where the crossing traffic has stop signs and I dont and I notice a Hyundai slowly creeping out from the left. I am in the left lane and notice that SHE is looking for crossing traffic in the direction of opposite of which traffic is coming from. As I get closer I see her accelerate and I look rt and there is a big yellow school bus, and not enough time to stop without either me getting T-Boned by her, or her getting T-Boned by the bus. So I FLOOR it and lay on the horn and of course this clueless woman nails me just behind the drivers side rear tire and sends me into a 45 degree slide with my front end pointed at parked cars on the side of the street and tha back end in the right lane. Luckily enough I was able to maintain control bring my car to stop in my lane pointed in the direction of travel without hitting anything else. I get out and look at my car and she damn near ripped the bumper off my car. the left rear quarter panel is squashed just below the light assemblys and the bumper is pulled back and up wedging the trunk shut and disforming it as well. Two inches further forward and she catches me in the wheel. Two feet back and she misses me all together and T-Bones the bus. I feel I did very well for this considering the circumstances presented to me and the fact that I have been driving 12 years and this is my first accident.

Anway, I am pissed, hurt, flustered, etc...

and My main concern is the fact that I was put into such a skid, did it possibly damage my bearings?

There is A LOT for me to look at here and poor Precious is hideous now...

I think that I am going to go and cry now...

I am so sorry. I'm sitting here reading this and I'm really feeling horrible. I think anyone with an SVX can feel empathy for you because we all feel that dread whenever we take off into the road. I really am sorry, man. It really is a shame. But at least you had the prescence of mind to do something. Had she hit the bus, it might have been worse.

Thumbs up Quick thinking . . .

. . . saves a life - maybe more.

Your fender and bumper are small sacrifices. Yeah, it's tough, nevertheless, you should feel blessed.

Uh..

Sorry to hear about the car. I hope it gets fixed soon.

On a lighter note, If she is cute, send her my way, I'll nail her for ya. I personally do not feel comfortable nailing a girl in a court room with people watching.

Chris,
Your sacrifice may have kept some kids from being injured. Perhaps you were at the right place at the right time.

I hate to hear about Precious' "ouchy," and hope you can get it fixed in time for Reading IV.

Now, tell me, did the lady who sent you into the slide, look slightly like "Marty Feldman?"

Lwin,
Doesn't your mind have another track . . . . . . somewhere?

Yes, a good A/W seems to be in order. Of course, you're not supposed to show aggression against the "weaker" sex.

(Weaker? HA! It takes SIX MEN to carry another man to his grave. It takes ONE WOMAN to put him there. )

No one mentioned anything about the bearings. If I were you I wouldn't be worried about the bearings. My SVX suffered a similar hit over a year ago and I still have the same bearings as when I purchased the car almost 2 years ago.

The only bearings you should be worried about are YOUR bearings!

Glad you're ok and I hope you can get your car fixed as good as before.
