jscorse....you wouldn't happen to have a copy of his version of "The Planets>>

Why YES I would happen to have a copy. I was introduced to them by my neighbor back in the mid 70's. I bought Planets and at least one more.

I've actually made a recording of the album onto my computer. I could burn a CD for ya.

I "WAS" trying to copy all of my LP's onto my computer. As we have over 50 this will take some time. I wouldn't bother if I can get it on CD, but so much of this stuff is unavailable. I have a whole bunch of Synergy albums. Unfortunately I can't seem to stuff them into my CD slot in the car.

I didn't realize there was a controversy over the album. Is it worth anything?

Jeff,
I guess I got my copy about the same time (mid-70's) when I was overseas. All my albums were lost (stolen) in shipment back home. I read about the legal problems in Stereophile magazine a long time ago, so I don't know if "Planets" was ever "officially" released in CD. Send me a private message about your offer.
I have no idea as to its value, but I would certainly think it is a collector's item. It was one of albums I used, when we live in London, to show off my system to visitors. Those wonderful synthesizer sounds filled the room and really got everyone's attention! Don

Well now...

There you have it. The master has spoken. You can pick up a 'good' CD from that place.

Mine I'm sure will have the obvious pops and clicks of my turn-table. Unless you LIKE that sorta thing.

Talking chinese songs

i miss my songs.
i miss my SVX that's in the shop for a week exactly. it's going for making its AWD in perfect shape. basically, the parts and job have done. now just waiting for the fully syn RedLine hightemp coming in. (by chance, also do the entire tranny service)

both players(cass/cd) in my SVX are w/ chinese songs. again, as long as, it's nice melody, all kinds, fm101.9, too(so far haven't received any chinese station in the SVX), it'll be good for me, also exactly depending on the mood at that time.

I've also got that on vinyl - but not the Tomita version. I have the CBS Symph Orch w/Toscanini (I think, haven't looked at it in years). Really want to burn a CD of that and several others that haven't been reissued on CD. It's A Beautiful Day, for example.

I don't mean commuting tunes. Hell, I listen to NPR while on my way to / from work. Then again, I only have 2 really crappy speakers in the Justy that hardly do music any justice.

Anyway, what do you like to listen to when you're enjoying yourself in the car?
Like always, depends on the mood.

Chillin' (cruzing through Georgetown or Rock Creek)- Cyprus Hill, Groove Armada, Various slow-jam Goth/rap/ambient tunes

Racin' (taking out unsuspecting BMWs in the twisties, generally exceeding the speed limit)- Pitch Shifter (Please Sir, A Better Lie), Old Ministry (NWO, The Missing, H.E.R.O), Slayer (War Ensemble) generally very fast, pounding, hard music.

There's really no middle ground, I'm manic-depressive that way...

I have so many favorites, I don't even know where to start. Soul Coughing, Liz Phair, Cibo Matto, Iggy, Elvis Costello, Talking Heads, old REM albums, Bob Marley, Radiohead, Miles Davis, Rage, Tool, Bela Fleck, Johnny Cash, The Seldom Scene, and so on...

On the commute to work, though, it is strictly NPR. Music is mostly for road trips.

Jesus! Somebody actually knows who Laurie Anderson is (as well as Tomita). Man how about "Oh Superman" or "Let X=X". Cool stuff. Ever been to her website.

http://www.laurieanderson.com

I can't say I listen to her in the car. I kinda like Trance/Techno for driving but nothing beats "Radar Love". It's got to be the all time greatest haul-ass tune. Also partial to The Sisters Of Mercy.

Bill - If I ever get the old analog Pioneer tuner/amp outa' the shop, & figure out how to connect my new toy JVC CD burner to all the other stuff, I'll burn you a copy of "It's a Beautiful Day", scratches & all.
Ron.

Bill, that IS available on CD; I saw it at my local store last year...I just didn't have the coins to buy it. I think it was over $20. You should be able to special order it from somewhere. It was ANOTHER of my classic LP's that was lost... Don

<Bela Fleck, Johnny Cash, The Seldom Scene, and so on...>

Rufus....did you catch Bela and the Flecktones free concert on Direct TV this month? It was great! Bill would have loved it too....it had a Mongolian throat singer featured at the end! Bela is appearing with Chris Thile (Nickle Creek) at Mountain Stage in Feb, and I am probaby getting tickets. Jean and I already have tickets for the week previous with Doc Watson, Tony Rice, Peter Rowan, and Blue Highway. We are catching Nickle Creek in March in Lewisburg. Lots of great live music for the next few months! Don

I've got the vinyl - if I ever manage to buy a burner, I'll make you a copy.

The CD was a limited production item, as I understand it - quite expensive.

Thanks, Ron, for the offer. Great record - the ultimate SF acid rock band.

We'll have to compare vinyl inventories, here.
