Will 15" wheels fit?

I'm possibly getting a parts SVX this week from which I plan to remove the wheels/tires, but I'll need to get something on the parts car to roll it around on. Does anyone know if 15" steels would fit? Seems like they're a little easier to find than 16".

Re: Will 15" wheels fit?

I haven't tried it but I recall reading that it won't clear the calipers. I have been shopping around for snow tires and have been tempted to get 205/55/16 tires as they are also easier to find than 225/50/16. They will also cut into snow better. But I am concerned that they will be too narrow for the rims.

Re: Will 15" wheels fit?

My Blizzaks are 205/55's. They work fine, a little narrow looking but otherwise no problem.

There may be some 15" rally wheels that will fit, but I wouldn't put any money on it. The car handles badly enough with 16's on it, I would hate to drive one with 15's and even mushier tires.

Re: Will 15" wheels fit?

If it's just a parts car and WON'T be driven on the road, pull the calipers and brackets and the 15's should fit.

I also went to 205's for my snow tires. Like Chris said, the only problem is appearance.

That's good to hear. If I do that, I would put them on the stock rims and put the all-seasons on the AT Italia rims I recently purchased.

Either "For the Win" or "F the World". I'm assuming Ken meant "For the Win"

Re: Will 15" wheels fit?

Not that it matches the topic, but since it's timely... I had good experience with 205 Blizzaks, as well. Go go pizza cutters!

You know, if you're gonna drive your SVX in the snow.

Do you think $200 +$50 shipping is good for a set of 4 with 10-11/32nds left on them? Seems like a good price. They look to be in good condition with no abnormal wear.

For Blizzies? Sure. My Blizzak REVO1's (discontinued) cost about $500 total on TireRack. They were on closeout, and at the time the Canadian dollar was above the U.S. one, so I got a sweet deal. Mine have 3 winters on them and are still in excellent condition (and I don't treat them nicely. I've used them for a full season of Snow-X racing, and when there's snow on the ground every corner is taken sideways.)

Re: Will 15" wheels fit?

My Claret had 15s on it when I bought it and it would not roll until I removed the front calipers. While working on it before I bought new wheels, I was able to grind a tiny amount of metal off the front calipers and they cleared just fine.
I wouldn't recommend it but for a parts car what the heck.
Davew833 too bad you're not closer, I'd give them to you.
