How many SVX left?

I know this question has been addressed and hypothesized...but I cant find the posts regarding it! Its all obviously speculation, but basing losses from other car #'s that have been studied, we can get a vague idea....

Accidents - Worn out - parted out - (128 from cash for clunkers!!!)....

After its all said in done... 2010 number thoughts for survivors???

Re: How many SVX left?

I estimate that more than half are gone. I used to see a LOT more driving around than I do now. In the last 10 years they have really dropped off in number, and the ones remaining are, in general, in a poor state of repair.

In all honesty, of all of them out there, I would bet at least 3/4 are in mediocre shape or worse, either mechanically or cosmetically. I would also agree with Mike and say at least half are gone at this point.

Re: How many SVX left?

Of my two I would say one is mediocre to good and the other is fair to poor.
I know of a lot that have been parted and scrapped in recent years. I think perhaps 35% are still on the road and another 10% may be still driveable.
So many have been junked for nothing more than a bad transmission.

It seems pretty logical, as with most other 14-19 year old cars. Id say most owners were not enthusiasts like we have here, and being so expensive to maintain it wouldnt be a stretch to assume this. Im sure there are some pristine specimens remaining, owned by enthusiasts who drive it as a second car or sunday driver..... but I doubt more than 25% fall into this category.

Re: How many SVX left?

the sad thing is that most cars in the svx generation that are still sought after mainly for tuning purposes still remain to be the
MK4 Supra
300zx
240SX
skyline
Civic
2Dr GC imprezas

the downside to the svx is that its still more of an unknown to newer generations.

So what's the guesstimate for hard numbers? It's late and I'm too tired to do the math

I think the last time this topic came around (or the last time I noticed one like it) the guess was around 10,000 for the States.
State of repair for my car, I give it a 6.5/10. It would be a 6.4 but I just sanded and painted the wipers.

Re: How many SVX left?

Yes, we did hae this discussion a while ago. We came up with about 33% are still on the road. That would be around 7,000 to 8,000 total. That would be 5,000 to 6,000 here in the US. There are some very nice and low mileage 92s around, but that is an exception and not the rule.
