Sometimes, we need a sign...

Aside from usual 9-5 daily grind frustration, I have been having somewhat of a difficult streak of luck and events, etc. I had considered actively marketing my car on eBay, as finances and such were just not in favor of me keeping the car and driving it, etc.

My frustration with my car reached a peak last Saturday, the 3rd, when I hit a pothole with my Claret and damaged two of my Prodrive wheels and ruined a newer Toyo tire, forcing me to do a tire change on one of the highest bridges in NJ. (I am petrified of heights ) The past few months which I had to resort to driving the SVX daily had worn on my patience and my wallet. Last Saturday, I was at wit's end.

Monday, I sent the wheel out for repair.

Tuesday, I got in the Claret to leave work for the afternoon. No start. No click. Nothing. Completely frustrated, I locked the doors, and left it there in the parking lot.

I bummed a ride to work for a couple days, and then managed to pick up another runaround car/daily driver (details in the not exactly SVX section).

I picked up the Volvo on Thursday after work, and made my way to the block inside a local park where I usually park the SVX, so that I could wipe off the wagon and snap a couple photos. Upon exiting my car, I was stunned to see a Claret SVX pull down the street, k-turn next to me, and choose to park right in front of the wagon! I was floored. As I stood next to my Volvo, I looked on. The SVX had not lost it's luster for me, and surely this one was an eye catcher.

I parked in this area for years, and had never seen this car before.

Still sort of stammering at the thought, I spoke with the gentleman driving, an original owner, with his car which had done 49,958 miles. (Sorry Earl, I didn't get the VIN.) I introduced myself and told the owner about the network. He was in from New Hampshire, visiting family on the very same block I live on, and usually drives another car, but just "had a good feeling" that he should take his SVX on a trip.

Friday, I explained the incident to several people, and spent the weekend in Ithaca NY.

Today, I walked out to the car, with renewed ambition, and within a half hour of checking around the starter, I found a loose ground. Hark!

*crank* START!

Thanks, random SVX owner, for the sign, and for renewing my patience!

Oh, and see you at READING!

And... what do you mean by "see you at reading"? Are you talking about yourself or did you invite the gentleman?

Danny, I meant it as a general address to everyone who is going. I did invite the gentleman, though I doubt he'd come, and I was getting doubts about my ability to attend because of the situation I was having. However, things are looking up and I will be there this weekend!

Glad you got everything worked out, your last sentence in the story above seemed like you were still addressing that owner who was a sign for you not to give up on the SVX..
