Re: How much 'global warming' do YOU have to shovel tonite?

Finally someone else gets it.

We've been hammered by weekly snow or ice or blizzard conditions at least once a week for the last couple of months, and have record snow levels on the ground already, for record breaking number of days.

I am thoroughly tired of it, frankly. Daft groundhog saw his blasted shadow...

He wouldn't SEE his shadow if you had a really fine 308!! You could be waiting and pick him off when he come out!!
No shadow that he can see!

HOWEVER, Wal-mall is STILL closed! There has NOT been a time when these dispensers of CHINESE goods were shut down for over 24 hours since they INVADED our local economy!

Re: How much 'global warming' do YOU have to shovel tonite?

We got enough for me to realize why ford is still in business and gm is in the public transportation business. Really, who the f builds a 3/4 ton diesel truck that doesn't have the grunt to push 24 inches of snow so you have to plow it in stages. Only problem with that is the ground clearance is just as pathetic. Do you think there is a gov't contract to buy Chinese trucks from Walmart out there? At least they might be smart enough to copy a ford!

26 straight hours of plowing out the parks, fire, ambulance and police then I had to come home to make a path for the TVR to come home and the bike to come out on Tuesday. Only had to call the cops once to have and fine young man who felt it was perfectly acceptable to snow blow his sidewalks into the street.

Now tomorrow I think I'll take a snow day or 4.

Messiah was using a dump truck filled with salt to push snow around. Having only RWD though made it tough for the thing to get up hills. They were also using light duty pickups to push snow around (although, not very effectively). The one guy got a little greedy with his Silverado and had to get pulled out by a tractor.

A bit over 12" here of new snow and still coming down--slowly, but scheduled for next 2 days.

Fire going in shop and house. Snug as a rug.

.

For unprecendented accuracy in the Mid-Atlantic region, I go here:

http://www.footsforecast.org/

This site gives much more accurate and complete info than any of the weather websites, includung the conservative NOAA, earlier.

Many federal government agencies listen to these guys.

This one from the Baltimore Sun is also a good one.

Subaru gave me my best 'source' for weather related BS! I push the button on the right corner of my radio, I get 6 channels of 'local' weather direct from Sterling Va!
Including the 'marine' alerts!

A bad weather car with a bad weather radio!!

I will ALWAYS drive an Outback Limited in the winter!!!

OK, Subaru moved 30 inches of snow for me 3 days ago. Now we are almost ready for the 12 more that we will be dealing with tomorrow!

Angry Re: How much 'global warming' do YOU have to shovel tonite?

31" in backyard. Power out for 36 hours. No sleep for 3 days.
31" on top of sacrificial Dodge van.
SVX & 240SX asleep in garage.
Today shoveled 36" off garage roof protecting the babies.
8 to 20 more inches on the way.
Schools closed 'til July.
Bought 5 gallons of kerosene for trusty Kerosun heater.
Bought 5 liter (litre) box o' Almaden.
I'm all set....bring it ON!!!!

Ron.

Re: How much 'global warming' do YOU have to shovel tonite?

We picked up about 5" all day today. Just enough to reveal all the crappy drivers and make a mess of rush hour.

Re: How much 'global warming' do YOU have to shovel tonite?

Whether you believe the stats or not, they're something to behold:
Location - '09-'10 Snowfall - Normal Snowfall
Syracuse, NY - 73.7 - 75.3
Washington DC - 63.5 - 13.4
Rochester, NY - 63.2 - 62.5
Erie, PA - 62.0 - 66.5
Buffalo, NY - 61.3 - 68.5
Baltimore, MD - 60.4 - 11.7
Fort Collins, CO - 58.0 - NA
Philadelphia, PA - 56.3 - 11.3

Looks like a few of us learned how the other half lives? If Baltimore passes Syracuse, I will truly be ashamed!
