Need help locating J-spec part... can you help me?

Hello mates, Nevin here from the grand state of Iowa, in the U.S.A.

I've recently purchased a 4.11 automatic transmission from a '93 WRX wagon to put in my svx. The problem I'm facing now is this: It's a VTD trans, which is superior to our USDM trannys, BUT it happens to have a different rear transmission mount than our stock piece. The crossmember is the same, but the mount itself is different. I'm told that the NZ and AU spec cars are close enough to the JDM cars that this mount would indeed be the same one you fellows could get. The problem is that I can't just phone up the nearest parts store and say "hey, I need a mount from a JDM '93 subaru so and so..." I have the TCU to run it, and have a prepared 4.11 rear differential waiting to go as well, so this mount would be the missing piece of the puzzle.

So, what I'm curious is if someone would be willing to go out of their way and locate/price a rear transmission mount from a 1993 WRX automatic wagon, then ship it to me as well.

I'd be willing to pay for your help if you'd like, and of course would pay you for the part and for shipping.

If you can help me, please let me know! Time is not a huge factor, but obviously I would like to get this transmission in there sometime soon. Also, if you're curious, this would be the first recorded properly-installed VTD transmission in a US spec car!

If you like, you can send me an email at nevinbontrager@gmail.com, PM me on here or respond in this thread.

Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to hearing from someone soon!

Cheers! -nevin

Unfortunately, I do not have a picture of the mount, since I don't have one in my posession. Would a picture of the transmission (at the mount) help at all??

Tom and I are fairly certain that the crossmembers are identical, but just the mount itself is different, if that helps in any way.

Do you have a picture of what your mount looks like?

Cool Re: Need help locating J-spec part... can you help me?

from an ealrier email of mine -

Try Peter here in Auckland - he has 3 SVXs in "bare body form, with ALL parts removed (including wiring harnesses).

click on

search SVX

look for Racerx4 listing.

I've bought a few items from him over the years (such as rear deck blower/ioniser complete with switch & wiring harness for NZ$100).

regards

Steve

Re: Need help locating J-spec part... can you help me?

Mike: Thanks for the clarification! I assume Tom kinda told you what I was attempting?

Stephen: Thank you very much, I will be emailing him shortly in an attempt to find this part. Again, thank you!
