Just a thought about Les Schwab...
PATRICK- If you read this, I left you a message yesterday, asking if you could pick me up a set of pads, just ignore it. If you read my rant, you will see that I got it done!
So I have always liked their work... they have always done a good job on all of our cars, and provided excelent service. So now my rant... I knew the brakes on my car were bad, I was told this when I bought the car. So I took it in yesterday for them to look at just how bad they were (as this service is free, I figured why not) So they got my car in and out pretty fast, which was cool. So then they tell me, your front brakes have less than 5% left... ok, so how much to get this fixed? So then they look at some book for about 10 minutes, come back to the computer for another 5 minutes, then tell me, oh, we cant get it done today, the parts all have to be special ordered directly from the manufacturer, which happens to be on the East coast. Hmm.. that still didnt tell me how much its going to cost... the guy then messes with the computer for another 10 minutes, and finally prints out a quote... $550! I was like, . I didnt know that they wont only replace the pads, the "parts" they were ordering, were new calipers, pads, and some other stuff. So I was like, ok then, how long before I can get it done? They couldnt get ahold of the company, and said that they would give me a call today. So after I get home, I go to CRAP (like napa incase you dont know) and ask them if they have the pads that I need. And guess what, they did. Cost me $50 for the front. So I went to a friends house, and changed my brakes myself. I didnt realize it was that easy... just one pin, and the whole caliper just lifts up. It took about 15 minutes per wheel One side wasnt too bad, about 30% left... the other side... it was very close to metal to metal. I dont know about you, but $50 is a whole lot better than $550.... Just thought I would share. (by the way, Les Schwab still hasnt called me back on a quote of how long it would take to get the parts ) -Dennis

yeah but they are gonna probably make some noise unless you machined the rotors. And Schwab's replaces EVERYTHING out of liability, that's why you get new rotors + caliper and stuff, we only replace the calipers if they are leaking/damaged (Which they are NOT in most cases)
