Mark, get a hold of me and we can try to figure something out. Maybe we could ride together and plan out the route/tour...Fridays and Saturdays are really my only good days, since Jill is working Sun-thurs.

Late August/ early Sept looks to be decent. I do have my 10 year HS reunion , but I think that is mid/late Sept.

Talking Date of Vancouver meet

Hi,
Thanx for the note on Labor day. Holidays are always busy, especially with the nice weather. We just had to deal with the 4th of July traffic in the Mt. St. Helens area and it wasn't as enjoyable as it usually is with bikers, boaters and boom-boom celebrators everywhere.
So the first or second Saturday after Labor day(8th or 15th) seem to be the best choices, which also puts this drive midway between Dabob and the Fall Colors meets.
Let us know if either one will be better. Looking forward to getting together with Erik and Jill to chose a route. This will be a scenic and enjoyable drive. Usually these roads are lightly travelled and have lots of varieties of corners. Too Cool!!
More details to come.
Mark and Sher

Mark - for what it's worth, I agree that those two September dates would be great. Also August 18th would work for me. Those three dates, and you can count on at least one Puget Sounder making the trip down - provided a firm date is set soon, my calendar is filling up fast, as I'm sure others are around this time of year as well.

Just providing input, it's you guys' event and the date's gotta work for y'all.

Sept is better for me. Aug is always full of family pic nicks etc. I want to come down as well. Are you south enders going to make it to the Dabob Seafood Meet? We are going to have a great rally on Saturday.

Smile Dabob

Earl,
Count us in for the Dabob meet. Working out the details for the times as my son's Special Olympics game is on Saturday in Olympia, just as it was last year, except that I will be attending our meet during his game this time.

Mark and I will performing our initial "test" run today for the upcoming Gorge Drive in September. I'll be sure to update everyone with a final plan (probably start a new topic thread) with all the details once Mark and I hammer things out.

Hopefully we can get a great turnout, I am really excited about this drive. So many amazing stops, its gonna be hard to compress it all into a single drive Not to mention the fact that the Columbia River Gorge is a entire "stop" unto itself Make sure you bring your cameras

Any suggestions on how long the total drive should last. I want to say that the Fall Colors/ Spring drives are around 7-8 hours...am I remembering that correctly? Just want to make sure we have adequet time to enjoy all the awesomeness that we will have planned.

I would just consider the long drive ahead of the start that most of us to the North will have to make before we leave on "The Drive". Also the long trip home. I know you guys down there know all about that from the meets you attend up here.

The drive will be Saturday, September 8th! I will start another topic thread for a sign up in the near future when I have the time to do a little detailed outline for it. At this point we will be meeting just off I-205 in Vancouver and starting the drive at 10am. The drving equals about 3.5 hours (of some of the most scenic driving ever) and the planned stops look to be around 3.5 hours (depending on how easy it will be to tear people away from the stops ) I made sure to calculate a little extra time for each stop based on their "coolness factor" . Each stop will be sure to impress I can tell that just from Mark's reaction today when we drove the route.

Mark also mentioned the possibility of providing a place to stay for anyone wishing to come down Friday night...but he'll need to provide the details on that.

Right on! Barring any emergencies, I will be there!

As soon as the "official thread" is put up, I will copy it into a "official web page" over at nwsvx.com. Feel free to get in touch with me if you have some additional details, pictures, etc you want me to put on a website to help promote the meet.

Listing it on nwsvx.com would be awesome! I am gonna try to promote the meet on Craiglist too by creating a listing and mentioning the meet. I will put it in the "meets" section, but I might also try to sneek a mention under the Cars/Trucks section...besides, at any given time I see 3-5 SVXs for sale in there on both Portland and Seattles sites.

Smile Room at the Inn

Hi guys,
We are aware that this is a long drive, so anyone coming from outside the area is welcome to stay at our home, either spending friday night or staying after the meet for Saturday night, or both. We have a guest room, but also a couple of couches that are very comfortable to sleep on.
Driving from Seattle and back plus the drive makes for a very long day which we feel takes away from the experience. It is our pleasure to offer our home. You are welcome to arrive late on Friday, which is unavoidable for those who will be leaving after work. We'll leave the light on!
By the way, my specialty is Belgian waffles, a breakfast you won't want to miss.

Mark and Sher
