connect a new keyless entry remote unit
Hi. I have purchased a new keyless entry remote for my SVX and am having trouble connecting/finding the correct wires. I have the wiring diagram for a 95 SVX but none of the colors seem to correspond. The instructions say to connect the receiver as follows: (polarity negative) connect to the door lock wire which is supposed to be ORANGE (to OPEN), and to an ORANGE & GREEN wire (to CLOSE) plus the power (BLUE & BLACK Wire) and ground (BLACK wire). Nothing works and I cannot even find these wires. They are supposed to be in the drivers-door connected to the central power-lock. Can anyone help or has anybody already installed a non-subaru remote system? If I go to a garage to have it done they'll charge me a fortune. Thanks. Chris

Hello and welcome
Seeing this is your first post here Hello and welcome to the European Forum Chris !! (even managed to beat Joe to it !!)
I'm not sure if anyone here has messed about with the remote locking and keyless entry system. For certain our car has the remote locking linked to the Cobra aftermarket alarm system but I've not had to investigate it. Are you trying to fit a new standard Subaru system or an aftermarket one ?? The wiring diagram you have, is it correct for the year of your SVX (although I can't see the colours changing over the production run.......maybe !). Is the diagram one a genuine subaru one or one from a manual like Chilten or something ?? I guess what I'm trying to say is do you trust the wiring colours ?? What colours do you have on your car ?? Sorry not much help really, more questions than answers. Phil.

connect a new keyless remote unit
Hi Phil. Very happy to have found this site & thanks for your rapid reply. The best thing is probably for me to draw a detailed diagram today or this week-end, but I can already answer your questions. The remote is a non-subaru, universal unit I purchased online in germany.
http://www.elektrocity-kunz.de/produ...ndsendern.html The wiring diagram I found on: http://www.commandocaralarms.com/wiring/1992/Subaru/SVX which corresponds to the one delivered with the unit (attached-in german). Quite frankly I think I may even have damaged the receiver/sending main board by missconnecting it, but I'll keep trying. Thanks again for your reply. Chris |

Hello Chris
You are welcome to the forum. [congrats Phil, you were up earlier than me again!] There is an aftermarket alarm on my car, and I have no idea how it is wired. You could look into the How-to section, I found this there: http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/files/How-To/31801.pdf One word of advice for you; the workshop manuals most of us have are American, and the wiring is different in some ways to the Euro version. In relation to your particular problem, the US cars come as standard with an alarm [security] system. European ones don't. So the wiring may be a different colour. Another factor with the wiring, early 92-95 cars are OBD 1 compliant. The later cars after '95, are OBD 11, so their wiring will not be the same. [Speaking in general, the OBD 11 cars are the ones that do not have the black roof] If your car is any other colour than black, and has one colour all over, it is OBD 11 wired, and may be different from the wiring you have been sent for an SVX 92 model year. Keep us posted how you get on with it. Joe

connect a new keyless remote unit
Hi Joe,
Hi Phil, Thanks for your comments and the How-to file. I will have to study that . Yes, I was affraid there may be a difference and it is correct that the European model does not come with a security system. For my particular SVX, the first owner had security system installed which again may have changed some wire-connections/colors. The system installed is a VDO Immobiliser 2000 T which bascially shuts the ignition circuit and the petrol pump if I am not mistaken. In regards to the OBD 1 & OBD 11, of course I had to pick a Black SVX I'll keep trying to connect the device but as I've already been trying for more than a week, I'm not very positive. I have no problems with body and engine but when it comes to electronics I'm terrible. I have in the mean time created a wiring diagram of the driver's door, so hopefully that may lead to something or help any others that strip their door. Have a look at the attached diagram and tell me if I missed anything obvious. Have an excellent week-end. Chris Last edited by swisssvx; 09-16-2006 at 05:44 AM. |

I installed a remote start and keyless entry system on my 92 and I had one heck of a time getting the locks to work. what I finely did was go under the dash and find the right wires on the security module and attached the wires there and it has been working great .. When I tried the wires in the doors I had holes poked in all the wires with a tester and never did have any success doing it that way.
