Does she make a ton of money?? Or is she just an outrageously fat slobby pig??

Some people are just that stupid...honest. I can't tell you how many people that I know who can't even change their own oil. Then again, this is mostly HS students I'm dealing with.

My Swiss mechanic always vacuums my interior and washes the car every time I take my car in, no matter what I'm having done to the car.

Actually, I've never changed the filter or oil in the SVX. It has always been done as part of the routine service package.

Hmm.... almost time for another drive down to Switzerland for a Spring tune-up.

I've never changed the oil in my svx either. I like taking it to the dealer for regular service. It makes me feel like a good svx owner.

It's a good practise to wash your car before having it worked on by a mechanic. This shows you respect the mechanic's work and makes it easier for him/her to do their job.

...also less chance they will disrespect your car.

I got bawled out by a mechanic for washing the car before bringing it in. He said that with a dirty car it is easier to see leaks and drips and trace them to the point of origin. Since then I always bring my car in dirty.

Just another perspective

I suppose it depends WHY you're taking the vehicle in.

Yup. and i can change my oil and air filter. I'm just perfect like that.

I always wash my car before she does to the mechanic (ok the one time), I wanted to be able to see any grease they got on my car and once she came home i wanted to look good driving my clean, well shifting car.

Thats pretty sad. My boyfriends mom is like that, she thinks changing the oil is dangerous and refused to let me teach her son how so he and his loser friend took it to walmart to have it done by a professional. It makes for good argument material when he starts laying in on me about me or my family. At least my mommy lets me change my own oil!

Yikes! Dangerous? (giggles)

Just to clarify, I have done work on my old Toyota... even changed the spark plugs though it played havok with my nail polish
Gosh, I loved that car... used to have to fill the oil and check the gas...

And to top it all off... I even changed a burnt out rear turn light

Naw.... Now I'm just old and lazy and let the mechanic do it as part of regular maintenance.

Anyone remember the good 'ole days when a pair of stockings could fix just about anything?

My wife bought some 4 year maintenance package with her car that replaces all that stuff for free..... for a nominal.. ah-hem!.. fee at purchase..............

Yep! She was ripped off. Tried ta stop her... I really did. She wouldn't listen.

Ya never can know... just for a gag, keep a running total of all the "free" work she ends up doing over the four year period and then compare it with that up-front fee. It just might end up being worth it.

And don't forget to factor in the prevention of broken nails and spoiled nail polish

I use a oil/transmission fluid based nail polish. Working on my SVX enhances the color and durability.

Air Filter

Hi everyone, Could the "Air Filter" the lady was talking about be the one that filters the cabin air? Changing one of those up under the dash would be a good one the pay a guy to do. As has been said many times"Just a thought:" Take care, BOBB
