New Rims On The Way...

I ordered these today for my red '95... I have always had a thing for black rims on red cars. Opinions???? http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...4.3&vid=006494

from the pics...they seem okay...
but ...if you like them, that's your own taste...
other's might not think the same...
though from that...i'm sure that they will be fine on your car..

the ones on the white (pics) look ok too...

i was considering those for my LGT in silver, depending on how much they weigh - any idea?

i'm not really a fan of black wheels, but then again i don't really like red cars, either. as long as you like them, that's all that matters.

Nice Looking But...

they are an 'in house' brand made for Discount. I highly recommend that you find out how much they weigh...they're likely pretty heavy. At least that's been my experience with that brand.
Hope this helps.

Those rims should look very nice on your ride. I think you will like them.

Those look pretty nice but you should have gone with 16's or maybe 17's..

Why 16's or 17's?? The weight for these is not that bad for 18" wheels. I checked the manufacturer's web-site and I think that they checked in at about 24lb each. I know that they aren't the 16-17lb RX-7 rims but honestly in my opinion wheel weight isn't that huge. I mean it makes a difference if you are getting solid chrome 18-20" rims that weigh 30+lbs. Yeah, that's stupid. I look at it this way I have what, an extra 30-35ish extra lbs now with my rims over someone with the RX-7 rims? I'm also a college athlete who is in good shape and probably make up for that weight by not being a middle-age guy with a beer belly . Just kidding.

Hey Gest,
I know the front of the car is in the shade, but I totally see front headlight blackouts and it looks great on the car...

It's not just dead weight though, it's rotational mass the car has to push on to accellerate. Every pound of rotational mass roughly equates to having 6lbs dead weight, so now it's going to always feel like you've got an extra 180-210lb person in there... The larger the wheel the worse this feels too, since the outer edge of a circle has to move faster than towards the middle, where a 16" rim would be.

Exactly...

and it's almost always a trade off. Just a matter of what's important to YOU. If it's looks over ultimate performance that's your decision...just so you're aware so you can make an informed decision. Undoubtedly you could find rims equally attractive and as light as RX7 wheels but...they'd cost a fortune! I went with RX7 wheels because their extremely light and 8 inhes wide. For me function's the priority. I liked the additional advantage of lighter weight and lower cost tires that comes in the 16 dia. Personally, I'd like a set of 2005 WRX 17x8's but I don't want to spend $1200 for a new set of wheels and tires. What're ya gonna do?
Go with what yer willin' to spend to make ya happy,
WGJ

OK correct me if I'm wrong. I know how the outer edge moves faster, but if the total diameter of the wheel/ tire combo is similar what is the difference? I have 225/50/16's now, and I'm going to 235/40/18. I'm not arguing that it's not the best performance choice, but will it really have THAT much of a negative impact?
I will be getting RX-7 rims with better tires for the track, don't get me wrong. These are just going to be for the road.
