SVX rotors, new source from Brembo?

Hmm I talked to my friend this afternoon and found out something really interesting.

Not sure whether to post this in the general or mods section.

Anyway, I was talking about my last brake job, and mentioned that the tech told me my rotors were in need of replacing.

My friend said that the rotors of the SVX are the same as the
late Lancer Evolution III.

And thus there are Brembo rotors that will fit our SVX'es.

I remember people having this conversation on the forums, whethere Brembo rotors exists for the SVX. I forgot how it went, but I think people ended saying no.

My friend says he will pick them up from his source in Japan on the next trip if I want them.

The best part is they cost 120 a piece, same as the oem SVX rotors!

Of course this is from a friend, not an official Brembo source. But
I do not know any one else who knows more about japanese cars/or cars in general than him.

They're ultra-expensive and therefore better.

Okay. I don't know what Brembo is either. Is this an aftermarket company in Japan?

brembo is supposedly of of the many high performance break specialists, they often do kits for porches, not so sure about ferraris, and other nice cars. They are pretty much world renowned. At least to my knowledge, they also offer kits for the subaru wrx, mits. lancer, lots of cars.

May be easier to get than you think

Check out this group buy post from the impreza (www.i-club.com) website:

Ok guys, this would be the 4th GB for Cad plated X-drilled / slotted rotors that I/ we have done. So rest assured, this is not a scam etc. The following are the details :

Cadmium plating in either Silver, Gold or Black.

Fitment availible for : Impreza 2.5RS, Legacy L/GT/Outback, Forrester and SVX. Works will all model years. (no WRX rotors available at this time, also no '00up Outback rotors)

Please note that the following price is for both front and rear rotors, ie: 4 rotors total (2F, 2R)
Costs : $309.00USD + shipping(via UPS ground)
West coast shipping is - $56US
East coast shipping is - $46US

For us Canadians, total cost is $616CAD including GST shipped to the West (ie: Manitoba west), and $601CAD for the East (ie: Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec) and any futher east would be $616CAD again.

Total cost - $365US (if you're in the West)
$355US (if you're in the East) That works out to be ~$88/ rotor shipped.

Method of payment is via Bank Certified Cheque or Money Order (Preferred)

Note:Paypal for CC payments is available w/ a 5% surcharge.

Please post here if you're interested.

For this pricing, we'll need 5-10 people, if we can get 11+ people, it drops $10US for everyone.

There's a nice picture of them too. Here's the thread:

I need new front rotors and I'n unhappy with my rears anyway - $309 is cheaper than anything I've found and you get the plating, to boot.

No brand name was mentioned, though.

Anyway, I'd also want to hear from happy/unhappy customers before I send my money to a company I've never heard of in another country.

You know... I like my warped rotors... I get a good massage without having to spend $400 for one of those things from Brookstone.

Brand name

Check the last line of my previous post - they're listed by the vendor as Brembo/Eurorotor. I think that means that if you order X-drilled you'll get Brembo, slotted you'll get Eurorotor, but I'm not sure. Either way, they're both supposed to be top-of-the-line brands. I think it's a good deal as well - the next time I need rotors, this is the first place I'm checking.

It was the 'Brembo/Eurorotor' part that confused me. I didn't understand which it was...

still sounds like a good deal.

i will have to go check the website and see for myself. i think my rotors are in good condition but for that price it would not be a bad idea to pick some up.
