Sleep is for wimps...

I am not long finished prepping my car [Plum] for a classic car show tomorrow.

She must look her best.

Because I am selling her.

Hope she doesn't sulk and refuse to start tomorrow.

G'night.

I don't think I would recommend this. If you're going to be spinning the wheels in the air take ALL the wheels off the ground and please use stands.

The reason being the LSD rear diff will want to turn the wheel that's still on the ground.

Any thoughts on that one?

I have having the same exact problem. I just had my discs 'skimmed' and put on new pads not 6000 miles ago. Though when I did it, I used cheap pads as I did not have time to order the Akebono pads I normally use. I am going to bite the bullet and put on new rotors and pads as soon as funds permit. Hopefully there is enough material left on the disc to salvage it. If not, I will be in for two of those as well.

Thanks for the input so far!.

Just been looking on our "cusins" website www.lexusownersclub.co.uk, and there's a great thread on warped rotors and most of the comments seem to point to correct torque and tightening sequence for the wheel nuts to prevent warped rotors.....just as Earthworm sugested!
I've managed to secure 4 new discs and green stuff pads all round for £203.00 and will give all four corners a right good what-for, and dump the dodgy locking nuts!......one supplier I asked for a price almost pooped HIS pants when he quoted me just under £600.00 for OEM parts, and another when asked "what type of car sir", I replied "Subaru SVX"...he responded..."What model Impreza is that" I'm just loving the ownership of this car!!!

That is a phenomenal price for 4 rotors and 4 sets of pads. Where did you end up getting them?

when you say 'phenomenal' do you mean cheap £203 and dear at £600, or dear at £203 and more than third world debt for the £600!?. I've come to find, very quickly, that the USA price for the same part is half what it cost in the UK. £203 to me is not a bad price and I know you can get the same half as much again in the USA......as they say over here "at least Dick Turpin wore a mask!"

203 even in american dollars is a good price. Since that is in pounds, it is a great price! I do not know of anywhere to get all four brakes for that much.

Thumbs up

BIG BIG thanks for that collin, lightening response must be one of the quickest replies surely!!

Query, I see in the diagram 'three shims' for the pads back and front, these are missing on mine and wonder if this could have any bearing on my problem. Will get the parts ordered anyway,.....still, you can't beat a new set of brakes!

Your new pads should come with shims that are glued onto the backside. The main purpose of the shims is to reduce noise. The noise is usually a squealing. I doubt the lack of shims would cause excessive vibration.

OEM pads come with shims. When I got pads from KVR I had to specifically request they include shims.
