Serendipity... faux suede not out of place in a bordello, New Orleans bar or 60's spy movie, coupled with George Jetson, atrium or conservatory glass bent in seductive curves. A steering wheel you can put wherever you want. A center of gravity just below your nether regions. Body lines resembling Venusian genatalia. A windscreen offering vistas of inner landscapes externalized. Underhood moan from the womb. What more do you want from four wheels and an engine?

Yup, I didn't pick my SVX, she picked me. Walked into a dealership and saw this beat up dirty trade in. Took it for a spin, came home and found this forum, and bought it the next day. Had all these problems with it, but as I was fixing it up, the more I loved it.

Also it's great that we have such a diverse group of owners. Most SVX'ers I've met at meets are pretty good people, not the case with alot of other people I meet elsewhere (i.e. parties and such). Although I think Nasioc's the next closest thing to what we have here, I can't seem to relate with the people there as well as with the people here. I guess we are all just freaks in our own way.

The diveristy is what makes this group so great to be around. Here's a perfect example!

Drunk Jesse shaking drunk Larry's hand. Look at that smile on Jesse's face. It's genuine, he was having fun (as well as being sloshed). Good friends, good times.

I've got a bunch of friends from NASIOC. Get together with them regularly. We share a love of Subaru's but they don't know about or understand my fascination with (to them) an underpowered, heavyweight cruiser. I don't understand their fascination with an econobox (yes, I've driven them) or their turbocharged specs discussions. Different groups but I wouldn't drive 1100 miles in a weekend to spend time with them like I did with the Network group!!!

I think some of us up for the challenge to make their SVX 'theirs'. No one will ever appeciate it more than you do. The mods/ aftermarket items for the SVX are brought about by the owners and their ideas. I like that the most about the SVX.

I like the SVX because:

OEM Parts are scarce
Aftermarket parts are limited
No one ever sees SVX'es
The SVX makes you think
The SVX is a mechanically challenging car for a typical gearhead
Nothing else is like it!

Who's drinking rum from a rootbeer mug bottle in that pic??

So many people have articulated to various reasons why - centered around the fact that this is really a very fine automobile. Some have hit upon the REAL reason, and that is the fact that "the SVX is different"! And in many ways, from the windows, to the glorious shape, the superb engine, to the switch to retract the wipers, to the little button that brightens the dash lights .... And we could go on and on. But I think also that people are drawn to the people that like (no, LOVE) the car. The Reading meet is a fine example. As Larry and others have said, a very diverse group, to say the least. We have a wonderful group of people to go with our wonderful car, don't you think? We won't talk about the "exceptions".

Some have touched on it..

But while I dearly love my car... it's been these pages and the "family" attitude that I have seen here that has meant the most to me in the 3 years I have owned my svx. The banter, the advice, the meets... that's what has kept my interest up. So I'll hoist a cold one tonight and toast all of YOU that have made this the best car I have ever owned

Now why do you keep insisting I was drunk in that pic. I am clearly drinking a regulay root beer and Larry is clearly drinking a fresh coffey, both resently purchest from the turkey mart.

I just don't get it.

the svx shares a univeral language one part that makes the svx a svx is the funny windows no matter what mods a person does noone ever changes the funny windows this making all of us a little funny for owning such a car...either that or maybe subaru though they could never sell these cars unless the made the ac produce a must fall in love gas into the car but it just made us love the car and some of us love each other aka other svxers
