Shell Gasoline Update
Hi everyone, Yes, the Shell premium in SE Michigan is 93 octane. Also at the shell website, it says that in 12,500 miles of driving you will get 125 miles more with the new Shell gasoline compared to the old formulation. This is one tenth of one percent. No I did not get tingly all over. It is better than a poke in the eye with a pointy stick. take care, BOBB

I'd think the Placebo Effect could do better.
Nonetheless, I'm on my second tank of Shell 93, so I'll post any noticable improvements later. Ron.

We all know that's BS. There are only a couple of companies providing gas in the US (well in the mid-west anyways). If the only 3 providers and if we have 15 different vendors saying their gas will give you higher milage, who is right?
I crack up everytime I hear someone say shell will give better gas milage than BP station or Amoco or Mobile station down the street. If they have brand name and they exist in the US/World wide, they are good. If they only have a name "Gas Station," I'd avoid that place regardless of who made that gas. There are times, I'd get around 28MPG on BP and there are times I get only 22 from the same station. It all depends on your mood and who else is on the road in the past two three days. L

I tried 4 tanks of shell gas near my home. My SVX ran terribly with a very noticeable hesitation especially when accelerating. I went back to Conoco (which has been used in the SVX for 5 years faithfully) and the hesitation went away. Don't know what it is about other gas but my car doesn't run too well without the gas from Conoco. Damn spoiled SVX'es!

Having filled up 45 year's worth of vehicles on branded & usually unbranded fuels in many states & seasons, but seldom using less than the suggested octane, & can honestly say that I haven't felt any differences, or had any fuel related problems, no matter what anybody says or claims I should. Go figger.
Ron (No, I haven't tried cheap wine in the tank).

There's Ron filling up the old tank from his Box-O-Hitest.
There he is under the hood (bonnet for those SVXer across the pond) putting his secret ingredient into the oil from his Box-O-Bardhal.
