I'm sure you can still get some made by a company that does re-grinds. Profiles, I'm not sure about, but between searching old posts, and those companies you should be ok. Maybe LAN will be super nice and let you know the profile he was having them made to. Or you might be able to get him to make you some as a one-off if you send him the cams and pre-pay. Never hurts to ask.

Re: Maintainance and engine shape up

Are the camshafts simply unavailable from Subaru or just very expensive?

And seriously, 133.000 kilometers, it's not a Ferrari.. Will it actually make a difference?

Considerable scope creep already underway here... I have no idea how a timing belt change discussion morphed into performance camshaft installation. Forget about camshafts!

Fix the timing belt / water pump as previously described, and any sources for leaks along the way. Then continue to enjoy driving the vehicle.

Yes, subaruparts is wrong here. You definitely need 20, unless you want 4 of them to leak...

Yeah, right...

And don't worry about the camshafts. They're fine. They were suggesting the possibility of upgrading, but after shipping that wouldn't be worth it at all.
Just do the timing belt, idlers, water pump, thermostat, cam/crank seals, valve cover gaskets and that's a good start. Also, a good idea would be to do the PCV valve and any vacuum lines. They are typically very brittle after nearly 20 years

Re: Maintainance and engine shape up

Ok, let's try to build a parts list. I will compile a "last post" when we're complete for future reference.

Apart from the pdf already supplied in this thread:

10105AA060 - Will this kit cover ALL gaskets and seals?

Timing belt:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/92-97-Subaru...ht_2674wt_1163

Is this a good kit? It's not OEM, did anyone try an of the "belt+pump" aftermarket kits?

An OEM waterpump has been recommended in the past. But the rest of the kit will work. Try one of these instead:

I have used the "PCI" kits twice now and they work fine.
