Car won't move

My car when I shift it into neutral won't roll. I have never had it do this before. The car is not driveable now. When I put the car in reverse it makes a loud rattling noise and won't move. I had a tow truck guy come but he didn't have the equipment for a car that won't move freely. I want to have a mechanic check the problem if I can get it moving. How many things can cause this problem. Sorry for the vagueness I'm in a hurry. Thanks.

your saying the car wont roll in neutral?
sounds like the transmission or diff grenaded.
