Aux air control valve????

I'm finishing up thinning out this wiring harness to run the EG33 in the WRX and have a question.

I'm gutting the fuel pump control circuit(relay, modulator, resistor, etc) and simply running the FP off a toggle siwtich with a saftey intertia kill switch.

I am using the wiring diagrams located here: http://serial.cc/pdfs/L__WIRING_DIAGRAMS.pdf

On the very last diagram right hand side, you'll see the listing for "Aux Air Cntrl Valve".....located below the ignitor pack. Two wires in...black with white stripe and blue. That blue wire comes from an output off the fuel pump relay, which I'm subsequently deleting......

What is that aux air control valve and it's function? What is the difference between that valve and the "Bypass air Control Solenoid" located just a little below the "Aux valve" on the same diagram........

The Aux Air valve is the cold start fast idle valve. Powered from an 'Ignition on wire', the other wire can go to ground. A Bi-metal strip heats up to turn it off, and the idle slows to the normal 600 rpm idle.
The Bypass air Control valve controls the idle speed.

Harvey.

Ah, so it's much like an old Porsche CIS control valve then. Good deal. I'll feed it a key on 12v signal then.

Thanks for the info.

Yes it's the same as the old Bosch ones.
