Realistically, you would want to see about 190 in all cylinders... 28psi is a difference accepted but if you see more than 15, it is time to take a closer look.

I understand it better now. Not having ever done a compression test, or seen it performed, I was unaware of the methodology.

Everybody was saying HOW the test was done, without saying why it was done that way, and I didn't phrase my original question too well. Not everything is obvious to the first timer.
