Phil, edit silver L374 GNY. It is mine now, I hope to be putting the supercharger in it soon as we have all the bits.

Joe

Hi Tim

JDM means Japanese Domestic Market, so effectively that means a car imported second-hand from Japan.

The instantly noticeable difference is the headlight washer nozzles on the bumper facing the headlights.

All UK market cars have them.

NO Japanese market car ever had them.

There are other differences. UK cars were very expensive new, and came "fully loaded" as they say in the States. Standard equipment on UK cars included glass headlights, airbag, sunroof, ABS, cruise, leather, heated front seats and so on. Of the extras just listed, the heated seats option was never offered in Japan or USA.

There are compensations to having a Japanese model. One I like is the "Power" button on the gearshift console. When pressed, this will leave the gearbox operating from the Power shift map. Hangs onto gears longer, changes down sooner for acceleration, much more sporty than the lazy standard Normal mode the UK ones have.

Also, they all have the "closing" switch on the mirrors, motorised closing. UK cars or US cars never got this option.

There are other minor differences, you will learn about them as you go along.

So which type is yours, then?

Joe

Joe,

Well as far as I know its definately a UK car as it has the full leather, electric heated seats etc. Infact heres a pic of the inside. I was told it was originally the directors car at Subaru and was sold at 15,000 to the guy I bought it from and he had it for 12 years up to a total mileage of 66500.

So I don't think its a JDM but hey what do I know I am an SVX novice of the highest order!!

OK!, OK!, I take it back!

Nah, it looks like a UK car Tim. In your first photo, it is hard to see the nozzles on the bumper.

Also, you will have a Subaru Pleiades badge on the bonnet. Japanese ones have the Alcyone horns, like in my avatar.

In your second picture I see the levelling switch on the console for the lights. These only came with the glass headlamps.

Your car looks very well, and the mileage is low. I have a black UK car myself, and I love the colour, it suits the SVX.

Nice picture Skelly.
Phil, I found another on eBay today, but the listing seems to have vanished.

However, I have saved a picture of it. It is a Claret and Black, '92 I think, it's in London somewhere, and the reg number is K300SVX.

As this number is not on your list, you might want to add it in.

Joe

Thanks Joe. It's on Autotrader too.

I've been so busy lately that I haven't been keeping an eye on the cars for sale.

Phil.
