Exclamation I think I will get an RX-8 in about 5-8 years

Kind of liek the wait I did for the SVX. Wait till they are cheap then pick one or 2 up.

I think they are fun little cars that also get alot of looks.

I test drove a new '05 6MT RX-8 about 5 weeks ago. Great car with amazing handling. Definitely felt torquier than 159 ft-lbs due to the 4.44 final drive. Its also great in the looks department as well!

They have quirks like the SVX but if you're experienced working on rotary engines and can deal with regular oil top-offs and a flooded engine every now and then, you should be okay.

If you have any aspirations to race it, understand that the trans is just a beefed-up version of the 6spd used in the MazdaSpeed Miata and has been known to implode during hard launches that cause axle hop.

They do make great AutoX cars in SCCA B-stock and are great, predictable handlers at the limit of adhesion.

Btw, Judge_Ito on the rx-8club forum who ran a 14.3 in a stock 6MT RX-8 has already replaced two transmissions in his car...

sounds like a beefy transmission to fail twice from that "freight train-like" 159 ft-lbs!

Better not be any worse than my F350, I don't even need to check the oil, just add a quart every fillup and if I put the later valve guides in it it will stop, but the valves will break off

Sweet cars, the RX8, wouldn't mind having one myself!

I still think the true rotary is the 3rd Gen RX-7...... Wow, what I would do for one. Until the Apex seals blow......

I just kind of figgured it would be kind of the feeling I get with the SVX. not all that popular, major quirks, and expensive up front and dirt cheap in years.

I love my SVX, but I also love my 2k Maxima (which is faster). SVX winter and first date car, Maxima for moving people and all that life stuff.

I guess I also need a Pickup. LOL Maybe sell the max and get a Marano I like those too.
