10 Years old?

Is it not supposed to be a 97 car?

Did the £150 exhaust include cats? There are 3 cats on the car, and any one of them is more than £300.

Gearbox

Hmm,

I've bought the gearbox from the car and spoke to the guy today, who is having it delivered to the local garage doing the work tomorrow - everything seems fine - the price £325 seemed reasonable enough, and it comes with a warranty.

We'll see how I get on.

Thumbs up

Wish you luck with it L.

Do check back on Tony's and my earlier posts.

Both of us bought later boxes and had trouble fitting them to earlier cars.

If your guys know their job they will sort it out. Structurally the transmission unit is pretty much the same. The wiring changed for the new OBD II sytem that came on post 95 cars. That's where the trouble starts.

Best of luck,

Joe

Thanks,

Will let you know how I get on.

My car is a very late '93 model, came originally on an 'L' plate and is an original UK spec car, I suspect that the later car may well be a '95 or '96 that was registered as an early 'P' plate - the reason for me suspecting this is that the car has a UK MPH speedo.

From what I understand, the UK spec cars were all the same. If not, well I've made an idiot of myself, and will have to grovel for info on swapping the internals over.

I told the guy 4 times it did not include cats, i also showed him the order written down about the phone call, we note every quote as we get lots of people who come and say we quoted them a different price trying it on, i have been here 25 years and never been called a con man or any other, i have quoted lots of people on the exhaust
ie:- full exhaust £150.00 not including cats
£300.00 including cats.

doesnt take a rocket scientist to work it out now does it.

SKIPTON BREAKER

I BOUGHT THE WHEELS OF THE CAR IN SKIPTON AND THE P/S PUMP ALL FOR £265, A FAIR PRICE, SOME MIGHT SAY A LITTLE DEAR. THE PUMP IS ON AND WORKING FINE AND THE WHEELS NOW MAKE MY CAR COMPLETE AS IT DID'NT COME WITH ORIGINALS WHEN I BOUGHT IT. THE WHEELS ARE LIKE NEW AND CAME WITH ALMOST NEW P6000'S. ONE VERY HAPPY CAMPER AND CERTAINLY DON'T FEEL CONNED.

MARK, I HAVE A EXHAUST SECTION (FROM THE CAT BACK TO THE SILENCER, THE LONG BACK SECTION) IT HAS A VIBRATING NOISE INSIDE AT ABOUT 3500 RPM, I REPLACED WITH NEW £240 BECAUSE I'M FUSY, OR MAD, GENERAL CONDITION IS GOOD WITH SURFACE RUST NO HOLES.......IF YOU ARE INTERESTED MAKE ME AN OFFER + P&P.

HAVE THE SAME LUCK WITH THE BOX, L

JOHN

Hey, John

Welcome to the forum.

Let us know a little more about yourself and your car, if you would.

Any chance you can make it down for the JAE weekend in July?

Joe

PS: I also bought lots of bits off Greens at reasonable price. Very pleased.

They seem very straight to me. Reckon it was a breakdown in communications with Mark or a misunderstanding about what was included.

Thanks for the welcome Joe,

The car is a 92 ebony black with 80k on the clock with FSSH and all the documentation you could wish for inc all mot's and pass/fail sheets. 4th owner now and acquired it last Nov and replacing everything that needs it: tie rods, track rod ends stabaliser link bars (front), rear exhaust section and a few other bits and bobs, just the strut tops to do and that will be it i hope for the time being, at least i can drive the car now as it was intended, and oh yes the wheels of the guy in Skipton.
Its not as though you can ask the guy next door what his SVX runs like so places like this will become valuble but for now I am picking up on the car and making mental notes on what will have to be tweeked. I could talk all night about this car and i hope to hang on to it for as long as i can,and my licence, will post pics on the site once I've fathomed it out.

cheers
John, p.s dumb question but whats the JAE

Hi John.

Thanks for the info. Looks like you are giving it a thorough revamp, good on 'yer.

JAE

Not so dumb if you haven't been there.
Major Japanese car show, hence
Japanese Auto Extravaganza.

The club has had yearly meetings since the 10th anniversary. Last year it was held at the JAE show, everyone enjoyed it, and this year we are sticking with it.

You can see details on the "Sticky" thread at the top of this European Forum.

It will be in July. Nice place to show off your car.

Joe

PS
Tip: You can also see pics of this and previous shows if you click into the "lockers" at the bottom of people's messages here.

exhaust

the rear exhaust section is £233.00 plus the "vodka and tonic" from Subaru dealers. The part I have can easily be neatly cut open sorted and welded back up if the vibration is niggly, why did'nt I do that? I want my car back to original condition
Make me a sensible offer and Its yours

John
