I checked my local Target store last night, but didn't find the package you posted about, Rob.
Ah, well...I'm pretty happy with the Meguiar's stuff I have anyway. That sounded like a good deal, but I guess I missed out.

Funny thing. Although I haven't used it on my SVX (I use Maguiars exclusively --- so far), the best wax/polish I've ever used has been (don't freak out, folks) NuFinish. It's inexpensive, easy on/off and lasts. Say what you want, but the "proof is in the pudding" for me. I've used it on all previous autos I've owned with fantastic results. The only reason I'm not using it on my SVX(es) is because, I felt that a "special" car, should have "special" treatment. However, as repair bills go up and my Maguiar's product diminishes (and I get tired of spending 6 hours each time I apply the Maguiar's "prescription" treatment), NuFinish will once again be under very close consideration.

I urge you to reconsider. NuFinish does last longer than almost all waxes, but it also has some serious abrasive qualities - it's a cheap polymer product with about 3/4 protection, 1/4 polishing compound. Only a couple of years of using that stuff on my old MR2 (pre-SVX) and the clear coat was gone. For lasting shine, I now use only non-abrasive polymers on my cars. Liquid Glass is relatively cheap and usually locally available (6 months to a year protection - depending if the car gets garaged, etc). Zaino is usually considered best of breed, if a vehicle is garaged, a single yearly application should be all that's needed. |

I respect your opinion and your experience. I'm not advocating NuFinish, but, my personal experience, again, is the proof I need. My 85 Peugeot 505sti (Charcoal, one of the worst colors for clearcoat degeneration), looked new, the day they drug it off to the junk yard -- after three years of NuFinish treatment. My 80 Spitfire shined like a new penny up 'til the day it was totalled, after two years of NuFinish. My Suzuki Sidekick always got comments on its shine up til the day (two years of NuFinish) I traded it in on my SVX. A friend of mine who had a badly oxidized Chevy Blazer asked me what to get to "help" his paint. I suggested NuFinish and he was amazed. It restored the finish to near new qualities. Again, I may never use it on my SVX, AND, I'm not telling anyone else to use it, nor, do I own stock in the company -- just sharing my experience. Perhaps BMW needs to look into their clearcoat formulation.

I wouldn't know. For a yellow car, I'd use "Strip Ease"

Oops. My eyes were seeing MR2, but my brain (what little is left of it) was seeing M3. To rephrase: perhaps Toyota should look into their clearcoat formulation.

I would assume this is what Rob is talking about:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2452636158 Target was sold out here, so I checked eBay. Stuff at our Target was only 50% off, so I ended paying what I would have paid there. Still seems like a pretty good deal to me.

Yeah that's it. Here's a few more, but they aren't at the screamin low price of $8.99.
http://search.ebay.com/search/search...uery=zymol+kit Seriously though, you guys NEED to try this stuff. Your car will look incredible. I had a friend with a red car that was probably 5 years old, and looked PINK. Zymol made it blood red, and it looked wet. But on black cars.... oh man. Nothing beats it. - Rob |
