I consistently get 27/28 MPG on the road. "Patience" tends to stick closer to 26/27, while "ET" leans more to the 27/28 side.
As for gas prices, I'm paying 1.41 for 93 Octane Premium. I should've filled up in Bowling Green yesterday at 1.39.

Re: Re: Premium
You are right Mitch, makes me mad!!.
However, glad you guys are getting value, even if you have to bomb somebody to keep it cheap Getting bombed over here, slightly different meaning. Yes, our prices are approx three times what you pay, and in the UK, it would be closer to four times. You can see it takes a dedicated person to drive an SVX over this side of the pond. My weekly gas bill is around $100 for my car, Ann's Civic uses about one third as much. We use the Euro here in Ireland, and currently [pun??] the rate is approx equal to the Dollar. Pounds Sterling in UK, approx exchange rate 0.62. Joe Quote:

the us oil situation vs mileage
Informative audio report form NPR on US oil dependence:
http://discover.npr.org/features/fea...ml?wfId=890982 Fuel costs, mileage and vehicle selection in the US are part market economics and part US political and trade policy. It seems as long as these forces keep 92 octane on sale at $1.48 (at the place I buy gasoline), not much will change and I will probably still fill up without knowing the mileage performance of my SVX or noticing what it costs. |

Good response
Thank you all for the great response. Round about 26 on US galls seems to be most typical for large numbers of people.
This is very good mileage for such a large car. The SVX looks low, so does not appear to be large, but it weighs the same as an XJ6 Jaguar, a big, heavy four-door car. Also, it has the added energy sapping element of AWD transmission. We will do another in the new year on worst consumption. I find that the range between good and bad is very narrow. The worst I have got in city driving is about 18, open road about 26. I have had carburettor cars in the past which had a 12-15 mpg gap between steady speed driving, and city or fast driving. I put this down to the exceptional management electronics and the variable inlet, all these factors keep consumption in the low to reasonable range. If only they could have given the car a gearbox worthy of the rest of the car!! Joe

On road trip to Colorado from Illinois I timed my "legs" between fill-ups and got a best of 27.8mpg @ 75.2mph.
That was from time/spot I pulled out of truck stop to time/spot I stopped in front of next pump. Must have been through Nebraska or Kansas, was pretty flat. Had one stretch just over 82mph...only dropped down to 26mpg. Not bad for car that only gets around 16 in town! |

While I have gotten 30+ on a few occasions, I caouldn't justify selecting it. Typically, I get 26-28.

I just drove my new 95 SVX on it's maiden voyage from seller's location to my house (310 miles) and I did it on one tank and got 26 mpg.

my mileage!!!
I have had my 1995 SVX for about 2 years now and out of the 7,000 miles I put on it about 6,000 are hway miles. I have never gotten over 23 mpg. what do you think is the cause for this???.... maybe it is my cruising speed. I usually cruise around 80-85 mph. ya think if I slow down I'll get better gas mileage?? what do ya think is the best cruising speed for the svx as far as mpg?? now that I think about it there was once or twice when I was traveling to Virgina Beach from Greensboro and cruised at about 95-100+. I got really bad gass mileage, about 19-20mpg. I guess speed does have a direct affect on MPG then.... how about you guys cars???

I have found that the car has to be drive at least for an hour at a time to get 25 mpg or better. When I drive for 1/2 or less and then the car cools off in between, the mileage drops.
