My snow story

Heck, I'll add mine.

Last year. 6" snow on my steep uphill road.

Mustang completely lost in the snow at the bottom of the hill.

Me a Ford Exploders and two 4x4 pickups go around him and gun it for the long ride (~2miles) to our respective homes.

I get in the house and the phone is ringing. It's my neighbor with the one of the pickups.

"What the he!! was that! I was all over the place and you just kept it on my butt!" "What's that your driving... a magic carpet?"

YUP!!!!!!

Well. I know I read that, so maybe the magazine was wrong, but it read that the SVXs main design was already done before the Italian dude even started on it.

OH GOD DON'T LET RANDY or LARRY READ THIS

Italian dude? Oh the humanity.....

Please read more. Pick up THE Road and Track issue on the SVX (it's posted somewhere) to get the REAL story.

I forget his name! But I remember specifically them saying something like the the japanese guy (dont remember his name either) had all the sketches done and they had a clay model done before the italian dude (heh) even got involved. I'll try to find it.

Giorgietto Giugiaro

Check this site http://www.italdesign.it/ The SVX is listed among production models as designed by Giugiaro and his team at Italdesign.

I'm actually interested

Please understand that Giugiaro (the 'dude') is a bit of a God around here. Check out their wonderful web site http://www.italdesign.com/#

He 'worked' on a 'few' other cars you may have heard of. Certainly the Delorian.

I'll have to go home and refer to my personal R&T guide to see if there are any clues to the 'timing' of HIS arrival.

Anyone have a good connection? I can't seem to find the article I'm looking for, and I'm on a modem. I forget what magazine it was in, but it was BEFORE the SVX was released here in the states. It starts out with the journalist driving the SVX around a track, then he and some japanese dudes drive up a mountian, then he goes to the factory where it was being tested. The light a gas tank on fire, they beat up the suspension, bla bla bla. It was in THAT article and it said that the EXTERIOR of the vehicle was not designed by Giuguaro.... Anyone remember the article I'm talking about?

You're talking about the Road and Track guide. I tried the link to the online copy that someone had posted, but, it gave me a "can't be viewed" message. It must be down.

Well anyway, in that article it showed various sketches of the SVX before it was built. They were all penned buy a japanese guy. It showed Guiguarno come along later in the production process.

I've read the guide cover to cover, but don't recall the scenario you're describing. I'll pull it back out tonight and re-read that section.

As a footnote, at the 10th Anniversary Meet, I had my copy signed by the two engineers that were there. One of them worked on the Engine Design Team, the other on the Body team. The body guy said that the putting the windows in the SVX was a major pain in the butt -- well, not in THOSE terms, but, something to that effect.

Alright. I welcome you to prove me wrong, but that fact just sorta stuck out in my mind. I'm pretty sure the japanese dude designed the SVX. See.... one of the reasons I think this might be the 'true' story is because what would you rather believe, that your car was italian designed? Or japanese designed with an italian twist? Exactly. So... kinda like life, sometimes the answers that would just be awesome sometimes aren't true. We'll see I guess.
