what have people called your car?

I get it all the time "that a mitsu... for.... subaru? never seem one of 'dem..."

what have people thought your svx was mistakenly?

my step dad calls my car ugly, so i look at him and tell him his new 'stang GT isn't nearly as comfortable... and he shuts up

Most people in my area dont even know what it is.
I pretty much always get "What kind of car is that."

I had one guy at a starbucks ask if it was a lambo I think it came from the windows.
Mainly cause of my age people say "Wow... You must have a real good job or rich parents."

I get, " what kind of a car is that?", "is it european?". The fact is, no matter what the question is, our cars induce the curiousity of others not familiar with it.

i know we had a thread like this i think a couple months ago.i think the thread name was "what has people mistaken your car for" or something like that.

but either way, my mother says within translation "garbage car"
...and i guess that's it since i dont talk to anybody. i just know that once in a while people stare at it because they either dont know what it is or haven't seen it before...or something within those degrees

It's funny because everyone thinks it's expensive. My daughter calls it a mid-life crisis car, which gets me mad because my only mid-life crisis is that I don't make much money -- a real mid-life crisis is a new Ferarri or something -- not a 12-year old car with 80K. I'm glad that many people don't know what it is, that way the prices are affordable.

The older 650 and 850 sireies kinda has simular lines, but not to be mistaken with a bimmer.
I remember one of my friends from work said i was stuck in the 80's or i couldnt affrord the full window to go down. Dont talk to him much anymore since i told him "Well... you drive a mustang".

Somebody at the DMV had difficulty, not with my SVX, but with our old Legacy.

'Now it says here it's a Subaru. What is that?'

'It's a Subaru.'

'Yeah, but what is that, like a Ford or a Chevy?'

When a few of us went to Autofest in 2001, I had a nice old lady come up and ask me, 'who makes the Subaru?'

Well I don't actually know how fast they go because the speedometer only goes up to 120mph. But if I judge the spacing between the 10's mph, I can guesstamate I'm going 150ish (needle actually on zero again). When I bought my SVX, I thought it was cool looking because it looked like my probes but better (more exotic) and the fact it was only $2700 .

I'm never really quite sure what most people think it is but the first question is "how'd you do that?!?!?" (pointing at the windows).

I have had the occasional is it a ferrari/lambo/tvr... but my favorite used to be "ooh a skyline!!!" Funny Shtuff, no more of that decieving mess though. I've caught SOOOO many looks in this thing, and even in its ugly state I still get girls checking it out with something to shout to me.

I've had "It looks like something out of Thunderbirds" on two separate occasions.

first gen 240sx's (89-90, 91-94) look like older ford probes... which is more of an insult than anything else.
