Just to keep you guys informed- I'M KICKIN THIS THING'S BUTT BIGTIME!!

No such prospects of 'springing me early', but I get to go off the IVdrip except for overnite's now.

No nauceious(sp?) yet and the hair hasn't fallen out yet from the chemo....

So far it's as good as it can be...

Thanks again for the support and prayers.

-Mark

Keep on, Keepin' on Mark. We know a young girl here in Memphis that has under gone a bone marrow transplant. Has had some bad times but stuck it out. She just got a great report from the doctors at St. Jude. You'll be back in the SVX soon ... Bill

Not so Good News Update (mark10t)

I thought you guys might appreciate an update on my condition-

My 'counts' are/were continuing to look great in my blood. I actually went home for a week until I had to check back into the hospital for my second round of chemo. Boy was that nice to be home!! Some friends helped me get the dock and boat tracks in from the lake while I was 'sprung', too, so that is ready for winter.

I am starting to lose my hair- but so far only the 'dark stuff'; the white ones seem to be a little more resilient! While I was home I was showering with the Mrs. and she couldn't figure out why the drain wasn't flowing right- there was a big 'brillo pad' of hair clogging it after I shampooed!!

I got some bad news, though, with my last bone marrow biopsy- it didn't show much of a change since I checked in the month previous :-(. If the marrow had looked as good as the blood, they would have called it 'remission'.

The good side of it is- it hadn't gotten any worse, so they've put me on a new plan with some more aggressive chemo that should work better on my leukemia cells in the marrow. I'm finishing up this 2 week chemo cycle and they will give me another (fun!??!) bone marrow biopsy on Friday and we will know if the new 'stuff' is doing what it needs to. Cross your fingers and say a prayer.

In the interim, they have a great room open up- my 'suite'. They have a few double rooms that they have converted to singles with a little more elbow room and a small sitting area. Much more comfortable and it's on the other side of the wing with a view of the river and all it's magnificent (for now) foliage.

I'm still feeling good, but my energy level is down a few notches from my first session. We're hoping that it's because the chemo is doing it's 'thing' and knocking out those leukemia cells.

Keep the faith; thanks for the support, guys!

-Mark

Whats going on?

Hi Mark, I'm sure I speak for all the SVX folk when I ask how your doing. I don't know anything about Leukemia. But I do know that people with it are beating it every day. So its a good bet that you will too. If the chemo your on is not working as well as everyone would like, try something else. If the run out of stuff to use, see if there is something new that is in trials of some kind and see if you can get on the list. As I see it the whole thing is to keep going till they find a cure for the one youve got. We(the SVX guys and gals) are all behind you. So take care and get well, BOBB
