I like printing it out better. Its a different feeling when its mailed to your home. I like getting personal letters than email.

I remember a discussion of this kind taking place years ago. IIRC, the poll we did decided the dues should be $10-15. Cheap enough to let everyone in but high enough to be able to do something with the money.

Of course, when money becomes involved, many other "club positions" need to be fullfilled besides "Randy." And we'd have to decide whether we'd vote on issues or just have elected members decide where the money went.

haha, yea i think the newsletter would be better more organized plus if its in a pdf members can just send it to whoever(non members) ....not that its a big problem but you get the point

then the prices would need to be lower if its in a pdf

If your going to do a news letter, you could always give members the option as to what format they want it in, wouldn't be that hard to print some, and send em' as pdf's also.

i don't mind paying dues, but i have to wonder if the general idea of such an "organization" is workable, especially as opposed to the way things are now. i belong to one "owner's" club, pay nominal dues, and do receive a small (about 8 pages) magazine format periodical about 4 times a year. the organization has get togethers (visiting car museums and the like) maybe 6 times a year, and the magazine has pictures of those events as well as general stuff (letters, articles sent in by the members, etc.). one person who is in the publishing business in some way has for a number of years undertaken to put the literature out. i think it involves a fair amount of work. i frankly wonder if we would find someone willing to, on a long time basis, undertake the job. i also wonder if we , as we really don't have a "social" meeting type "organization" will be able to keep the literature going, although it would probably go well for a while. then i wonder if the material would just not be sufficient to continue.

those are just some thoughts.

I'm just NOT a "joiner"! BUT...

I'm BACK!

I'll pay to support THIS site, as I have found it to be most worthwhile. Perhaps the best "info site" I visit on the Net.

The people are not bad, either.

The last time I joined ANYTHING was a fraternity in college, and I never actually went "active". I just don't belong...

I'm a "registered" INDEPENDANT in Oregon.

Enough about me. There is one thing to be said about print material: you can take it with you to the potty. If you HAVE it with you.

but seriously i would be happy to pay dues to be a certified member of an organization for this car... exclusive keychains or something would be nice too

kinda like the svx network emblum sticker with our username added through the center (i custom made my own)

a member profile with photos and a little interview would be cool too...

i mean look at how many colorful charicters we have and how much many of them stand out...

step by step how to sections

interesting stories

art/jokes/etc

related items, like toy cars/mugs/hommeade svx stuff

classifieds

alot of it could be submitted

and the best part.... all of it is svx related

i would be happy to publish the magazine (have done work in college doing a mini magazine... and article writing)

if i have some support id be willing to do the editing/formatting/publishing end of the newsletter. as well as designs for a window sticker (nothing goes on my paint ) and maybe even a membership card.

if i have the support, ill do it

besides, honda civic owners have one and we all know how much betterthan them we are

Hmmmmmm...you think so? I work in an in-house printshop and whenever we have been forced to get a quote from Kinko's for printed matter, it seems like it's always been high. But aside from printing costs for the moment, there are other things to consider: postage, mail list upkeep/maintenance, etc.

If you can print them, people do like it better. We put out an emplyee newsletter to about 500. To cut cost, we switched to emailing them as PDF files. It was great for us, no print or postage costs, and we could put all the color photos/groaphics in it we wanted.
That lasted about a year, til the administration told us to print them again. People just like a newsletter they can hold in their hands and read. We still do the PDF version though.
