AWD or 2WD??

I'm looking at a '94 2WD SVX and wondered how the 2wd's compare to the awd's as far as driving, handling, gas mileage, etc., go. My '92 pearl LS-L is, of course, AWD, but I've never driven a 2wd to compare them. Are they that much different?

The only difference that i know of is take off and handeling.
I tested both and got the 2WD Main reason i can lower the crap out of it.
But i say its really up to you
Unless someone can school me.

AWD should handle better around corners due to the rear wheel push. MPG is obviously going to be low with the AWD. Transmission is less likely to go boom with a 2WD though.

Not Much

Not to much different. I agree that the FWD is a little quicker, but does not corner quite as well. Also, there is definitely more torque steer on the FWD. Mileage on the FWD is slightly better. My 94 FWD is also faster than my AWDs. Many will argue about that, but I definitely have the basis for comparison. My 94 FWD is an LE, so weight difference is not only in AWD versus FWD tranny, but also no sunroof and no ABS. Originally it was cloth manual seats so that was even less weight, but I have converted it to leather.

If you don't need the AWD for bad weather purposes, I think you will be perfectly happy with a FWD even despite very slightly degraded handling.
