A pair of needle nose pliers. You'll see 2 places in the top side of the grille under the hood where you pinch the tabs with the pliers and pull forward on the grille while doing so.

You will first want to use a screw driver or other pointy object to push down the horizontal tabs on the grille side of the clips. After these are down you can gently pry the top of the grille away from the top radiator mount. The clips will stay with the grille and just remember to return the horizontal tabs to their original position before reinstalling.

Discovered that the '97 grille has different tabs. They're quite a bit shorter.
