I found them on Ebay UK. I don't remember the exact price, but they were less than $300.

Don't they aim the beams toward the wrong side of the road?

Yes. The beams angle up on the left.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Drove my black one for the first time in like a month and a half. My brother sold his truck so he's using it until he gets another vehicle. And I really don't trust anyone with my blue car.

The RPM gauge isn't working and I'm pretty sure it's starting to lose 3rd and 4th gears (right on schedule with its mileage, actually). So I am going to have to figure out a trans for it sooner rather than later it seems.

And now I'm off to search through old threads to see why the RPM gauge would quit like that.

It's called a tachometer

What's the mileage, by the way?

Lol it was on the tip of my tongue. When my brother called me to tell me it quit working, he said "RPM gauge" so it got stuck in my head.

It has around 137k, and has never had a trans cooler and only infrequent trans fluid changes until I got it. I figured it would die soon if it was going to, so not much point messing with all that. Might be able to get a surprising amount of life out of it just only using 1st and 2nd, for short trips. I'm considering doing that until I finish my move that way I can do the work myself later. Right now I don't have anywhere to do work on them.

Hmm, mine has 168k on it, but I have no way of knowing if it's ever had anything done to the trans. I changed the fluid and filter right away when I got it, and when I switched to an all aluminum radiator I had to put a trans cooler in since the rad didn't have one built in. It flares occasionally, but I suspect its due to a TPS problem.

What does yours do?

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

New tires for both.
Cooper Zeon RS3-A because that's the only thing I could find locally in the 235/40-18 size I need for the Claret.

And these babies on the Silver:

Vredestein Ultrac Cento 225/50-16

I think they're the most quiet tires I've ever.............not heard

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Had Safelite replace the windshield today in my '92 Claret. Took a stone on the intersate and developed a 2 foot crack last month. Obviously they couldn't repair it so they began the search for a replacement. I know the Claret was one of the few to use the bronze windshield and read here that they are next to impossible to find new. Well, they called a couple of their warehouses and they found one somewhere. A week later it was delivered to the local shop. It was listed at $950, but only ended up costing me my $100 deductable. They were not able to re-use the original moulding and could not locate a new one, so they had to fabricate one. He ended up making one from a Pontiac Aztek. Didn't turn out too bad in my opinion. Nobody in the shop wanted to do the windshield until the oldest tech was back from vacation. He came back today, fabricated the moulding and replaced the windshield in about an hour and a half. Kudos to Safelite on a job well done!
