Heck, if you recall, I pulled mine out of the shop and drove straight to Vermont. Then, I pulled it out of the shop and drove it to Reading II. Don't count it out 'til it ain't on the road, headed toward Reading the day of the meet. Let's just hope the flexplate fits when it gets there. BTW, I thought 1stsubaruparts had folded. OR, are they just not stocking SVX parts any more?

flex plate
Mine is on its third possibly 4th that I'm aware of. Many will remember the car at the tenth anniversary meet that was making a load noise under the hood. I made an appointement for 3 days later in golden CO. to have it fixed and it was broke all the way around the center bolts in an octagon shape so it was still able to drive the car. I suspect it was like that when I left ME to go to the meet. The one before that let go from the outer bolts in towards the center. Only 20 thousand miles between 3rd and 4th flex plate. It sounds as if it might be going again. I drive with to heavy foot. Time for 5sp ,6sp, or weld two flex plates together.

Re: flex plate
Quote:
The flexplate is the coupling between the engine and the transmission shafts for axial alignment only. When the engine and transmission line up correctly and the crank shaft and TC are on center there should be only torque loads going thru the plate and these will be very low. When the shafts do not line up in the laterial direction very high bending loads will result in the flexplate. Then it will break from fatigue failure. |

You can tell from the part number which Subaru it belongs to.
00000AA000 - Legacy/Impreza (multiple/unspecific?) 00000PA000 - SVX specific 00000FA000 - Forrester specific 00000GA000 - ??

That was the cuase of plate #3 so said the dealer in Laffayette ID. I visited them after the meet before leaving town and would have had them fix it but they wouldn't get to it for 3 days. so I booked an apointment for three days later in Colorado. They noticed tha one of the dowels was missing and replaced it. I'll drive it till I know it's the plate again and the dealer hear will fix it under warranty.
