Depends on a lot more factors than that.

Here is the link to the actual car. Located in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Dan Derry Toyota

Looks like a really clean one. No engine pictures. Probably will need major maintenance soon.

He'll never get that asking price though. Wonder how much it really sold for.

I don't know... 59k miles is pretty damn low and for a rust free SVX at that. May not get asking price but I don't see why it definitely wouldn't sell for near or at $6k. I'm full aware of how quickly these things become money pits but if I were in the market for an SVX and could accept the color and had the money, I don't think $6k is asking too much. Guess it all comes down to how well it was taken care of... and could imagine it being a single owner? Man...

No reason to low ball a low mileage SVX in such nice condition permitting there are no known underlying issues present.

Re: wuts a 95 lsi polo with 59k worth

I would say it is worth between $5,000 - $6,000. The mileage is very low the body and interior condition appear to be very good. It is a 95 so the tranny should be strong. I would say this dealer priced it right, assuming that they expected to bargained down, and that it is not a salvage title. Likely it will need valve gaskets, I would do a timing belt/water pump change, and would expect that with in a year or two the radiator will crack and the alternator will go bad.

Re: wuts a 95 lsi polo with 59k worth

If I liked the color
If I wanted Auto
If I lived closer
I would offer $4,500
Seeing you think it needs $2,000 worth work.
alternator , Valve cover gaskets , timing belt , Acc belt, New plugs,If no wheel bearings have been done expect that, Being from a dealer I would expect some should have been taken care of (at least the timing belt ). And a 90 day Warranty

Wow you guys are cheap. This car will sell for over $8000 and thats being modest. Despite it needing maitenance it still only has 59k. There are SVX with double the miles being sold for what youre offering, lol.

Once you get in the SVX and deal with it for a few years you sort of expect all sorts of issues but being cheap? yea, just barely breaking 59k it's still worth close to asking price. I seriously doubt it would sell higher and for $8k? (why would someone pay more than sticker price anyways? just saying) and rarely do you ever see a car with double the miles in as good condition sell for near $6,500.... everyone ends up dipping them out for $4k or less... generally, mostly less.... and if they have issues? They basically are given away... at least, that's how I see it. $500 - $1k SVX with a bad transmission or head gasket go for pennies. Then again, you have to spend $4k+ to bring it back up to speed so (including whatever issues may pop up over the next few years)... it only makes sense I suppose. Especially when you have to rely on insurance companies to back up your investments and always trying to rip you for the age of the car and so on..... KBB is the devil.

Re: wuts a 95 lsi polo with 59k worth

It is still listed on their website, but you guys say it is already sold?

I would consider it if it is still available. Mine is acting up (transmission), now even after I fed it with a new alternator and charging system, and new tires.

And my Legacy is acting up too.

For a car that clean, I'd consider trading or selling the Legacy, turning my SVX into a backup/parts donor, and then buying a cheap SUV slogger.

If it were a Laguna blue in that condition in my back yard, I would be even more upset about missing out.

Re: wuts a 95 lsi polo with 59k worth

Half of you are idiots.
You sit here and say a car that is an excellent price is too much money. Yet, you are the same ones who sit there and complain that your SVX isn't worth anything when it's time to sell or question whether or not to put work into it because it isn't worth as much as the work it needs.
$6800 for a 95 with this mileage and that condition is a hell of a price. So what if it needs it's 60k service done. At that mileage you can guarantee the car hasn't been "touched" as I like to say by some half ass mechanic that doesn't know a Subaru from a Saab.
I bet someone could post a link to a 97 with 10k miles for $5k, and I still bet some of you would say it's too much.

Re: wuts a 95 lsi polo with 59k worth

I agree Nate . BUT I read Horror stories about people ,On here and other sites, that have paid big bucks for an SVX with low miles and then get it and pour a ton into it . Once one of these cars end up costing you $6,000 to purchase and another $4,000 in repairs it is starting to get pretty $$$$$ . No Sure thing that the $6,000 is getting you a reliable car. On the other Foot I see people paying $2,500 for one that knowingly needs $4,000 worth of work.I guess checked out . (if it is close enough for an inspection ) and it runs good, has no rust, and with that low miles it is a good gamble . I said it before I have seen people buy a 2006 BMW for $26,000 and end up with a nightmare. I would love to see the market start to show signs of the SVX getting into the $6,000 -$8,000 range .

If you're buying a 15 year old car, mechanical repairs should be expected.

Re: wuts a 95 lsi polo with 59k worth

Wife was a little POed when I spent what I did ( women don't understand Men and cars ) . Her idea was to buy a nice 2 door 2004 Honda Civic ( dependable car ) for the same money. But I didn't and I am still happy with my choice. If it were not for the people on this board I maybe would have gone with the Civic.
