super charger? and a higher amp alternator?
ok ok ok ok i really do love every ones help in here. everytime i have a question some one in here helps me out and putts me on the right track. so this is my other delema. i am putting a 7'' touch screen dvd player in my suby and the lil compact ps2 i got those two problems figured out pretty good. now can some one please help me on telling me where i can get a higher amp alternator to keep up with my amp my dvd player the ps2 and some times the xm radio when i have it on? and alos i keep seein streems on you tube about guys with super chargers on there svx's. where do i get one? i removed my a/c in hope s of mounting it right there where the compressor used to be. can any one leed me where i would start on getting that lined up. im not putting it in until i swap my two motors but i would like to get a jump on it now if ya know what i mean. thanks again every one in the svx network for your help!!!! you guys and girls keep me informed and keep our cars on the road.. nowelsy

I am also running the alternator wiring upgrade, using 4 gauge copper wire with an 175A inline Mega-Fuse. This gives me a constant voltage of 13.4V-13.8V, depending on accessories I am using.   .

UPDATE Maniac Electric Motors is now offering a lifetime warranty on all of their high-output alternators for an additional $98.00. The original warranty on these units is one year. More details on their site HERE .

The NEW alternator wiring configuration V.4 is now online at Maniac Electric Motors. It is a.pdf file which you can open and then save a copy on your computer for future reference. http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/yhst-...adeWireSVX.pdf I will make sure that Earl knows to put this into the How-To Documents as a newer version. .

According to the time/current characteristics if this fuse, I could go down to 100A easily. If the alternator were to put out its maximum current of 160A, the fuse would handle that "spike" for 10000 seconds before blowing. Going up to 125A would let it handle that same current output for more than 1000 seconds (16 minutes plus) This is the black line at the left The black line towards the right of the chart show the 1000A range of current the battery is capable of. If the wire were to short to ground, the 100A would blow the quickest (at 6/100 of a second) while the 125A would blow at 1/10 second. The 175A would blow the slowest at 1/3 of a second According to this chart, I think a 125A would be the most desirable. The high-output alternator is capable of producing continuous power, without ill effects, at 80% of its 160A rating. That is 128A (more than enough for our electrical demands) .
