Grinding /whining sound on acceleration?
I have put 1050 miles on my SVX in the last month (to be exact) today its starting to make a whining sound when I accelerate seems transmission or differential related?
It goes away everytime the car shifts but then comes back when I take off from a start again The dealer I got it from told me the transmission was rebuilt and under warranty from a local shop and any problems he would refer me to the guy... Is it time for a for sale sign ??? |

Dude you dont know my situation ... while I'm sure we all have stories mine is rather simple
I spent 4 and a half months salary I saved up to purchase, register and insure the SVX .. I have only driven it 1000 miles in 2 months I cant afford to put $$ into the car after spending over $4,000 on the initial purchase.. Maybe I just got a bad one who knows As far as being cut out to own one I already own one of the fastest production cars made - the 1987 Grand National since I am cut out to own one of those there is no other car I care about being "cut out for" I bought the SVX as a car I thought would be alot of fun for winter driving and laying the smack down on a few imports but now its just sitting in front of my house collecting dust Whether its the rattle or any of the other small items I need to fix on it right now I cant handle it financially Quote:

to fix the rattle all you need is a hose clamp to hold them together. Can't shell out a couple bux for a hose clamp? Search a little more on your problems, there are easy ways to fix them.
An SVX is no more troublsome than most cars at this age. It's just no one has the balls to keep lame cars around. Don't get me wrong though, grand nationals are awsome peices of machinery. It just takes a little more blood sweat tears and money to keep them in ood condition Tom |

You bought an old car and expected it to run perfectly? Maybe the financial problem is you. Whenever I buy a used car I'll budget an extra $500-$1000 for the small fix-its, but that's just me.

4k is next to nothing to spend on a car that listed at over 30k when it first came out.
I spent 3k on my car with blown rad, blown motor and a trans on it's way out...... But like I said, you just gotta have the love for the svx Tom |
