SVXWN outlived former Yahoo product
Before the SVX World Network was a thing, I met all my contacts and got all my own personal shared information from Yahoo Groups. When the service was not searchable, had the Message 40 bug, and eventually became a SPAM server by displaying ads every 3rd or 4th post read. Back in 2000, I said I could do something better and dedicated to our needs. Some of the people scoffed, but others backed me fully. In December of 2000 I started beta testing the solution and we went live in Feburary of 2001 with the help of Travis of QWK.net, Jim of Fiberpipe, and Aredubjay driving the voice of reason, challenge, and movement. That being said, the SVX World Network has officially outlasted our former platform provider of Yahoo as they are pulling the plug and all data will be expunged. https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/8...nently-removed Thanks to ALL of you that by asking, contributing, and supporting have made this place a GREAT success! -Chris

Yeh 20 years. Time flies when you're having fun.
Been a good trip, have enjoyed the time here, though the early days were the best.

Re: SVXWN outlived former Yahoo product
Chris,
Thanks for starting and keeping the SVX World Network up and running. I am another refugee the Yahoo SVX site. I did print out many of the "tech problem fix" posts from the Yahoo site and keep them in a loose leaf book. with all my other SVX info. However, this site has many more problem solving posts.

Re: SVXWN outlived former Yahoo product
I've been here off/on since May of '02 I think. I'm so proud of that neon sign on earls avatar. I printed off reams of those Yahoo fixes too, sadly bundling them up and leaving them in my '94 when I sold it in 2012, along with my 10th anniversary mug from Lafayette that had the three signatures. (Was it the President of Subaru, the glass engineer, and the engine designer? Larry III will know their names) Stupid me.
Two years later I got a '97 that I still have, so I do wish I had all that info back. This site, these people, have been a godsend. Priceless. Thank you Chris, and all who has a hand in this, large and small. Bruce

Re: SVXWN outlived former Yahoo product
Thanks for ALL the effort and work to keep this site going.
I remember well the discovery of the Yahoo site 21 years ago and how excited I was to be able to converse with like minded SVX owners. Then came this site, which is so much superior, with all the same great folks. Please let us know the costs involved with the new server setup so we can all chip in.

Re: SVXWN outlived former Yahoo product
I read up on all things SVX via the Yahoo site, & despite the gripes about trannys, bearings, message 40, & people staring at funny windows, I bought the beast anyway in January of 2001. About 30 days later I bumped into a guy named Hoffman, driving a pearlie in a Maryland parking lot, who told me about the "new" SVXNET site, so I signed up....been here ever since, with the same '92 ebony beast still on the road, thanks to all the help, & comraderie found in here due to YOU Chris. The site & the SVX may outlive me, but I hope the "SVX attitude" carries on forever.
Cheers everybody (chugging chablis fron box spigot) - Ron.

Re: SVXWN outlived former Yahoo product
I'm not sure I would have even bought my current SVX if this site were not here.
