Re: Zero Pressure Waterless Coolant?

OK, just heard back from Tom at Evans on my inquiries, as follows:
Thank you for the prompt reply Tom. Another question for you here. Reading further on your website I see recommendation that a non-Evans water pump should have the “weep-hole” plugged to avoid sucking air into the system. Below that I read, “All stock – factory original computer controlled daily driven vehicles are coolant change only – no system changes are required.”
Does this mean the weep-hole plug is or is not required? Thanks again for taking the time to consider our concerns.
I’m also considering conversion on my 2005 Cadillac STS with 4.6L Northstar V8 power. Any particulars to keep in mind here?

His reply:
Glenn............cars from earlier years like the older muscle cars and some of the guys with street rods that use the older style motors have the weep hole in the pump. Those we tell to plug if you can but it is not mandatory.
A good example for a newer car/truck would be my new 2011 Dakota pickup. With less than 20 miles on it ,I changed over to our coolant and just changed the coolant and left everything else "as is". I also changed my wifes 2008 Dodge Caliber when we got it 4 yrs. ago and have no problems at all.
So changing the Subby or Caddy is not a problem, just make sure you do the conversion correctly. The biggest thing is getting the block empty on either car. You do get directions with all our coolants and they should be followed to the letter to do the change correctly. If you ever have any questions you can also call us at 1-888-990-2665.
Remember.......... on stock daily drivers, you change only the coolant, nothing else.

On the Caddy forum, my thread has been met with more skepticism than here, with many views and few replies. My take on that is far fewer DIY owners and many more cars still on factory or extended warranties, as the STS was only discontinued in 2011.

Glenn

Glenn
both the cars he goes on to list have a weep hole in the water pump so it must not be a big deal although i doubt his mechanical knowledge if he assumed they didn't because he didn't see one.

Re: Zero Pressure Waterless Coolant?

Thanks Glenn!
The weep hole was a big deal for me because with it closed a slight amount of foreign liquid trapped in the water-pump area would quickly destroy the water-pump bearing.

If you know... Is NPG+ the best for our cars?

...Is the capacity for the coolant, including the heater, more that 2 gallons for our cars?

NPG+ http://lubricationspecialist.com/eva...FUcGRQod2W4pCg

39.95 each with about 12-13 $ for shipping each at evens. UPS ground

36.99 at motorsports but no information on shipping... yet.
