1992 SVX trouble codes
Ok , now I have trouble codes as I read them by the long pause and short pauses , as code 23 and code 31, I believe 1 is MAF which I just replaced and the other is throttle position sensor, is there any way of fixing this, if not this car is going to the scrap yard as I am at my end

Re: 1992 SVX trouble codes
31 is the Throttle Position Sensor - I've not had to deal with or replace an SVX TPS before so can't really give you advice there. Maybe search the archives for info on impact of it failing, how to test it, how
As for the MAF, do you know it's a good MAF? Has the car ran with it yet? Did you replace it with a brand new factory MAF (~$400) or a junk yard one? Could it have been damaged during installation (they seem rather delicate). I as I said in the other thread, I tried three MAFs before figuring out it was the MAF connector that was going bad. You could try wiggling the connectors/wires, make sure everything is seated correctly, etc.. If the car hasn't ran since you replaced the MAF, then that could be an old error code from before it was replaced. Good luck, Ian. |

Re: 1992 SVX trouble codes
How do I reset the code from the previous MAF sensor, and yes I purchased a new one, car starts and idles for about 3 seconds then goes into a tailspin and dies

Re: 1992 SVX trouble codes
There are probably a few ways, but the only one I've done is disconnect the battery for a while, then hook it up again (clears the ECUs memory).
Did you check the check the connectors? (Folks can probably help you better if they have more details on what you've tried.) Hope it's not your MAF, at ~$400 a pop for a new MAF (and ~$180 for a reman.) I was super upset that it was still having MAF problems by the 3rd MAF.... Good luck! Ian. |
