Could it be true?
Okay, so I was looking through my Motor trend magazine looking at the back pages where the numbers are posted and thinking to myself how impressive the WRX is in comparison to other expensive names. As I looked at the 0-60 times I came across one for 4.3 seconds...Naturally I looked to see more.
Has anyone ever heard of a Volkswagon Beetle HPA GT6? There it was an outrageous Beeltle with 508 HP and AWD I was astonished, theres more, 2.8 V-6 Twin Turbo and 6 speed. All for the low low price of $65,000.00 WHAT? A Beetle for 65 grand? They have got to be kidding. Can you imagine sitting in your WRX thinking you are going to blow the doors off the pathetic bug and there it goes right by you... WOW. I just can't stop thinking what kind of idiot would pay 65,000 for a Beetle. Well I guess I will sit back and enjoy my old SVX that looks fast amd think what a great deal I got in comparison ! -G |

And furthermore, can you imagine a hybrid vehicle made from parts of both? Yup - The Glow VWorm. With apologies - Ron.

VW is kinda cool like that, because all their drivetrains can basically be stuffed into any of their cars. They basically took the audi TT engine, trans, etc and shoved it into a beetle. HOwever, 65,000 bucks?! What a freaking ripoff.

I remeber that issue
of Motor Trend. I think it was from last year. They were talking about a performance shop (I think it was in Canada) that had put the Audi S4 2.7 bi-turbo V6 and AWD system in the Beetle and gotten (I recall) 503 hp. They could do the same upgrades to a TT since it is real similar to the beetle. I don't remeber it being $65,000... but it sounds about right for cost of the vehicle plus the swap and (maybe) labor. Sure, that's a lot of money... especially since you could pick up a sweet Z06 for less... but a beetle that'll perform like a Porsche 911 turbo would make for an awesome sleeper. I'd rather do it to the TT and drive the beetle off of a cliff.
