impreza/wrx/legacy auto into the SVX?

HELP,

I need a new auto for my SVX

I have found a really low mileage 2002 Impreza RS auto and would like to fit it to my SVX

I suspect that I will need its diff too but more importantly, does anyone know whether this auto will fit

Please contact me by email or directly at 705 444 9278

Thanks much!!!

Richard

I don't know whether that specific transmission will bolt up or not. Most auto boxes from Subarus in the past ten years will, if I'm correct. But if the 2002 RS tranny bolts up, then you will definitely need the rear differential as well. Some custom driveshaft work may be necessary, as well.

A tranny from a 2002 RS sounds expensive - why would you go through the trouble?

This box is not strong enought in the clutches to withstand the torque and weight of the SVX.

Harvey.

I disagree...the less stress induced by the lower gearing will outweigh the 1 less clutch pack it has, ......if the newer electronics don't cause a problem, it will probably hold up better the the original units.....and have much better off the line performance.

Thats my opinion.....and I'm sticking to it

OK Huck, but your a lot gamer than me

I would still go for the SVX box with the lower gearing. 4.11 will reduce the load on the box by about 18%, increase the torque at the wheels 18% and allow a 18% shot of no2 to end up at the same load as standard.

What type of AWD does the Rs 2.5 have.? FWD fuse or DIFF LOCK fuse?. Center clutch or center diff?

Harvey.

I have access to an auto tranny from a '98 Legacy B4 RSK twin turbo if you are interested.

They come stock with 280hp and 260+lb/ft of torque... so I know the SVX would be no problem. 3.9 final drive.. you'd need a rear LSD out of a US market Legacy GT or WRX.

Contact me via email if you are interested.. jasonporter3@charter.net

Jason, you might want to call the guy yourself. It doesn't look like the original poster plans on coming back to check for replies.
