1994 LS Parts Car - FREE - Come Get It

VIN JF1CX3453RK102836
137K Miles
Clear Texas Title with Flood notation
Color: Emerald Pearl
Location: Austin, TX

This car was apparently claimed as "flooded" in 1998 during hurricane Francis in Houston. At that time it had about 33K miles on it. I don't see any sign of flood damage. There is amazingly little rust on the car, no water marks in the interior, all the electronics look undamaged, all the bolts except the exhaust shields ahead of the cats came right out with no rust - and, it's lasted another 100K. I think this a poster car for why our insurance rates are so high. In any case, in Texas a "flood title" makes a car nearly unsalable because of the fear of salt water. IF this car was really flooded, it was with rain water, not salt.
------------------------------

In 2008 I was looking for an EG-33 and ECU for a Fiberfab Avenger project I was trying to start. I ran across this car on Craig's list with a bad transmission and a "flood title". Since I figured the car was unsalvageable, I bought it for the parts for $1000. Well, I finally got around to parting it out.
I don't want to crush the rest of the car. I have more interesting things to do than dribble the bits out over e-bay for the next 100 years. I'd rather give it to somebody in the community.

Roughly, the situation is:

I have pulled and will keep:
Engine and everything attached to it (Alt, A/C Compressor, etc.
All harnesses except for doors and trunk lid
All the little electronic modules except those listed below
Steering column

I have pulled and plan to keep the following as "maybe I can use this on the Avenger" parts. If you covet some of these bits, we can talk. If you actually need it, I'll probably throw it in.
Spot/Room Light (front)
Vanity mirrors
Inside Rearview Mirror
Pile of A/C ducting from under the dash
Pile of brackets, wire channels, etc.
Some of the switches out of the dash
Brake M/C & Booster
Air Intake plumbing (filter, ducts, silencer resonator, etc.)
Coolant and Windshield washer tanks

This leaves:
All the suspension/wheels, steering rack, etc.
The exhaust after, but not including, the exhaust manifolds and shields
All the sheetmetal
All the glass (Windshield has a rock chip, but no crack)
All the interior except for the dash and steering column
All exterior parts - lights, emblems, etc.
Power Windows (As I remember, two don't work)
Transmission Controller, A/C Controller, Stop Light Checker, ABS stuff
A/C, Heater, Blower Assy from under the dash
A/C Controller
Seat/Shoulder Belts and controller
Stop Light Checker module
Front and Rear Wiper assemblies
Instrument Cluster
Brake M/C and Booster

The dash itself (plastic structure and pad) did not survive the previous owner and my disassembly, however, most of the "fake wood" panels like the instrument bezel did.
The radio and its tricky door were toast when I got the car.

Condition of the remaining parts:
Paint has suffered a major clear-coat failure.
Sheetmetal is rust free - no BS.
Doors have some parking lot rash, need a skim of filler. (See pics)
Upholstery is pretty marginal in my view; tired with some cigarette burns - seat frames and underlying foam seem OK at a glance, so they should recover fine. Rug might clean up - maybe.
Glass looks good except for small chip in windshield (See pic) - peeling/bubbling tint.
Exhaust seems sound (I keep the manifolds that attach to the engine)
Wheels should clean up fine. One has a little curb rash on the outer lip - will file out and not show.
Tires - off brand 225/50R16s with about 1/8" of tread.

Pretty good shape for a 137K car.

NOTE: I have driven this car a total of about 5 miles, stopping once to let the transmission cool down enough to stop slipping. SO, I'm not all that familiar with the state of brakes, wheel bearings, steering rack, etc. It didn't scare me.

The deal is:
You PM me if you're interested. I e-mail you with my phone number (area code 512). You call me and we talk about the car. If you want it, you, or your friendly car transporter show up at my place in Austin, TX with a tow truck and make the car disappear. I give you a signed over Texas title, and a sales tax affidavit that says it was free. I send in the Texas "I don't own this car anymore" form so they don't call me when you rob a bank in it.

You have about two weeks to get the car out of my driveway so I can get to my garage. If you don't show, I'm free to give it to the next guy or call the local scrap yard. I can't stand to have my driveway plugged for a long time.

The center light is NOT cracked. I guess that's a reflection of junk on my driveway.

Right Side: Note door dings - about the same on the other side

Yes, you get the bar across the dash. Oddly, it has some surface rust.

A/C underdash stuff, glovebox, console, etc.

Rock chip in windshield - driver's side

Re: 1994 LS Parts Car - FREE - Come Get It

So, the car's gone. Well, the shell is gone. I couldn't crush all that stuff, so I spent a couple of days stripping it.

I've got all the lights except for the pass. headlight, all 8 pieces of side glass, airbags, sunroof with a rusted out frame (I finally DID find some rust on the car), etc. I'll make a list and post it in a few days.
